I'm surprised no one mentioned this.

During the WEEI interview Sheppard asked if they have an advantage because they faced Brees before at SD.

Belichick mentioned the systems are different. He mentioned, as usual, how great everyone around Brees in a passing team was.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe LT was not there during the Brees years, but I think he was for some reason. Anyway, when I think of the SD teams of the past I do not think they are only a passing threat.

How is that disrespectful?

LT and Brees were teammates for 4 years or so.

I didn't take that as a shot vs LT. LT did catch a lot of balls w/ Brees as QB for SD.

Wow, now even Pats Fans (I'm assuming you're not a troll, but who knows with this post), are playing the "disrespect" card against the Patriots.

I think people are stretching the term "respect." I see disrespect as a direct insult to someone. Freddie Mitchell was disrespectful by saying he didn't know the names of the Patriots' secondary. Mike Vanderjagt showed a lack of respect by saying the Patriots were "ripe for the picking." If Bill Belichick said "I think Tomlinson is overrated and past his prime," that would be disrespectful (although true.)

The media is getting ridiculous. Can't you just say something in praise of one team or player without insulting another team? This has gotten out of hand. There's no team better than the Saints, so the Colts feel insulted. Drew Brees plays in a great system now, so the old Chargers teams are insulted. Tom Brady is the best quarterback, so Peyton Manning is insulted.

This whole thing needs to stop because it's annoying. We all know that real disrespect is when a team or player is undervalued and insulted, especially by an opponent.

You're disrespecting the media....

Well said. Agree 100%

this disrespect crap is getting too much....

Enough with the disrespect card already.

I listened to it and didn't think it was disrespectful of LT2 at all. They asked if he had an advantage because they had seen Brees with SD before. BB said they are different systems, in SD the offense was based a lot more on running the ball and play action (this was when LT was in his prime).

So I don't think it was a shot at LT, just saying the Saints offense is a lot more pass oriented than San Diego was with Brees at the helm.

The LT/Brees combo killed the Pats in both 2002 and 2005. LT had 200yds and two long TDs @ San Diego in 2002. In 2005, everything went wrong for the Pats in Foxboro in an embarassing 41-17 loss.

Chris

It's not classy to claim Bill disrespected LT.

Football should always be about two things: Class, and Respect.

Why didn't BB just admit that LT2 is a whiny little beotch whose stellar football career is clearly behind him?

Not mentioning him at all is like not disciplining a disabled kid because you feel sorry for him... it is passive aggressive disrespect! This should not be tolerated, BB should be suspended for at least 5 decades.

Calling Complainian LT is disrespectful to the real LT.

Can we just agree to stop disrespecting disrespect!

Football should always be about two things: Class, and Respect.

I COMPLETELY agree ! I for one, do not care whatsoever about the final outcome. As long as people use LT as a beacon of classiness and Dungy as a pillar of the Church everyone would be better off.

I absolutely hate it when fans actually care about the final score. Haven't LT and Light's Out proven time and again that a lack of championships and total failure in the playoffs is insignificant ?

Fans get so wrapped up in their team's wins and losses that they forget that these classy strangers that we will never meet or hang with are so wonderful that it trumps all.

I think BB should apologize for everything he's done to the classiest franchise in league history and, in particular, to the great LT - best player and human being since the beginning of time.
