Bates Resigns from GB -- Off to NE?

Pardon my ignorance but Bates resigned from Green Bay, wouldn't the Pats still have to get permission to hire him.

It appears to have been mutual, GB is letting him move on knowing he wanted the HC job there.

Yes, they were in Cleveland together for 3-4 years. Bates coached the DL, LB and DBs at different times for Belichick then.

Thanks---i still doubt he will bring someone in from the outside though! That may piss off some of our existing coaches and they may leave with Mangini if that's possible!
