Patriots Injury News Barmore cleared

Williams and Barmore push the middle, QBs escape to the edge. Big guys on the edge in Landry and White. If they fail and the QB escapes around the edge, the LBs in Spillane and Ellis are fast and can catch them.
If the defensive ends, Landry and White, fail to catch the escaping QBs, I don't think it will be the Inside LBs like Spillane or Ellis catching the QBs. I think it will be the Outside LBs like Chaisson or Swinson, or even a Strong Safety like Peppers, Mapu, or Duggar catching the QB.

I feel like this is white’s year to prove it or be gone…..he has some competition now so better leave it all out there! He will have better coaching this year too
I don't think it is the competition that will help White this year. After having a monster game in Week 1 last year, White saw a lot of double teams because the rest of the defensive line was so weak. With Landry, Barmore, and Williams playing, White will see fewer double teams this year and start to dominate, IMO.

Not to sound corny or have really high hopes but maybe the stars will be in that perfect alignment this year and something very special will happen.
It will not be the Defense that could prevent the team from making the playoffs or going beyond this year or next.

Depends on the play - I was envisioning them going out chasing but yes, depending on play design you are right

It’s great to hear that Barmore has been cleared, but I’m really glad the Patriots drafted Farmer, because they could lose Barmore at any time and have his career be over.

White pretty much said that he wants to be coached hard but by competent coaches, but that the coaches last year were substandard.

I think one of the problems the Patriots had to deal with the last couple of years is that players simply didn’t care about being here. It was obvious in the 24’ free agency that New England wasn’t a place most free agents wanted to go to, but I think that was also the case with a number of the players they drafted. Even though Belichick was still here it was really obvious that Keion White didn’t want to be here, and that had to affect his motivation the past couple of years. And we saw the same attitude from guys like Okafor and Osborne. Whether or not that’s still the case remains to be seen, but I think the basic attitude of a good number of players was basically “ so what?” if the Patriots released them, they would rather be somewhere else anyways. And I think their 2 worst units, the Offensive line and receiving rooms were the biggest victims of it. My best guess is that attitude is largely gone at this point, and players are going to come in ready to compete for jobs, but we will only really find out when camp and the season rolls around.

Milton only works next to a massive disruptive load next to him. The outside pass rushers only get off if the interior players gather enough attention.

Good! I always felt he would be ready this year. I think they rushed him back last year because they were desperate for a spark on a disaster of a season. I know he reportedly asked to be cleared and the doctors cleared him, but I think if the Pats were having a decent season and the defense was clicking like 2023 that they would have not let him come back.

Hopefully this offseason, and upcoming seasons make it clear to the “ culture doesn’t matter” crowd just how wrong they really are. If you want to beat the best teams you have to build the best team, and that only happens by working their asses off every day.

Barmore, Williams, White and Tonga on early downs seems pretty darn solid. Then Farmer has time to get up to speed and get in the rotation. Edge will be solid with Landry and Jennings vs the run. Chaisson and Swinson eventually as pass rushers.
I don’t want to take on the 30 mil contract, but Trey Hendrickson would make this defense complete. I’m good with what we have though.

Rebuilds take time. It appears, on paper, we’re on the right track.

Was anyone else blown away by the significant difference in appearance from Barmore from last year to this year? He looks so trim. I know there are pads, but I think there is a huge difference? Did he slim down to get faster and pass rush?

He hungry

He never should have been cleared last year... there was no real reason to bring him back... glad hes had the time to fully recover
For those with some knowledge of the topic, what underlying condition that results in blood clots can be managed/mitigated?

I do not know the root cause of Barmores blood clots... that has never been disclosed that I know of, so i cannot answer your question about underlying conditions...

what I will say, based on what I read, is when he returned last season, while the practice window was opened, he was still weaning off of the blood thinners...

would it be prudent to take him off the drug first, then monitor his medical condition before signing off on a return? I think that more caution should have been called for then... and just a month later, back on the NFI... kinda bears that line of thought out, no?

Now that he has had months more of evaluations, hopefully he is a full go.
