To be fair, since you're asking so nicely for serious conversation on your desired topic, here is my reply to your actual thread:

I think that Asante Samuels is great and does not get the credit that he deserves on this site. I saw the "appreciation" thread but people act like his picks are lucky and he's not very good.
I think Samuel is a good corner, but yes I do think his INTs this season have been because a couple of QBs made horrible decisions and threw it right at him (one by Losman and one by Harrington). Yes, he baited the throws, but a good QB doesn't get baited that easily.
Also, his one pick that wasn't a bad throw was off of a deflection where Hobbs (or maybe Scott) actually made the play to break up the WRs catching motion and create the tip.
Samuel is not a shut down corner. He allows alot of catches and alot of yards. If some team signs him and pays him as a #1 CB then their defensive backfield will not be very good. If he sticks here or is signed somewhere else for solid #2 money then he'll be fine.
If it was Hobbs with all Samuels picks, people would be going crazy.
Silly conjecture. This part of your post is simply requesting that the Hobbs camp and Samuel camp come here to duke it out. There is no actual substance in this comment.
To address the issue that your empty comment brings up: Hobbs last season was playing better coverage than Samuel. Hobbs this season was playing pretty damn good coverage before he got hurt. He had a bad game against the Dolphins, but against Buffalo I think he picked up where he left off before his injury.
Hobbs can't get many Ints when QBs throw to the other CB's man.
Can someone explain this to me?
what has he done that causes all this Doubt about Asante?
Samuel is inconsistent, which you'd know if you watched all the games. He makes some big plays, but also gives up alot of yards and alot of catches. I think he's gotten better each season with the exception of the majority of 2005. This season he looks more like 2004 Asante, probably a little better than that. He's still not consistent enough on a play to play basis to be a #1 corner in this league, IMO.
