I think that Asante Samuels is great and does not get the credit that he deserves on this site. I saw the "appreciation" thread but people act like his picks are lucky and he's not very good.

If it was Hobbs with all Samuels picks, people would be going crazy.

Can someone explain this to me?
what has he done that causes all this Doubt about Asante?

Added an "s" to his name without telling anyone?

zzz.

Do your threads ever contain an anctual ounce of substance?

keegs, man, come on. How many times do we have to explain to you how completely LAME threads like this are. At least get the guy's name right - or does it "sound better" to you this way, like "Mahoney?" Just stop.

Yes they do.

Lets see you seriously answer my questions. Instead of just posting a pointless message to get your name out there.

p.s. It's ironic that you accuse my thread of not containing substance when it does, and your reply contains none itself.... What did you miss that or something??? hehe:singing:

please answer the questions.

I like Samuel as much as anybody but if you have ever seen him play he is wildly inconsistent. He will make some great plays on the ball but also seems lost on the field at times. ie. Covering Javon Walker in the Broncos game. Samuel just stopped for a split second allowing a 70 yard TD. Sometimes he makes the big play and sometimes he gives it up. I hope he becomes more consistent but until then i think he is getting a fair amount of credit.

The safety was more at fault on the Javon Walker Td than Asante in my opinion. He is a little inconsistent at times but a lot of corners are... i mean we aren't talking about Hall or Bailey here.

p.s. thanks for actually answering the questions.

I agree Sanders was to blame for that play as well but i feel like over the past couple of years i have seen that same type of play from samuel too many times.

I know he's pretty good, or I think he is. He's always "right there" when the guy is catching the ball....but I still think it's best if they get rid of him, and kind of hope they do.

Someone will pay him 5M per and I hope it's not us.

Maybe trade 2 #1s for a the #15 pick or whatever and get Leon Hall and a 3rd rounder.

Pick Spencer of purdue with one 3rd rounder, another CB, maybe FS Josh GAttis of Wake with 3rd round supplement.

Maybe David Harris MLB in the 4th. Or Dan Bauzin in the 3rd instead of spencer.

You post a thread that's entirely pointless, I reply and call it that, and I'm the one just getting my name out there? Wha??

p.s. It's ironic that you accuse my thread of not containing substance when it does, and your reply contains none itself.... What did you miss that or something??? hehe:singing:

I'm not even delving into the issue of whether or not my posts normally contain substance because I think it's pretty well established. I'll leave you with this: If you want to get substance back, put some out to begin with, it helps.

PS: to answer your initial thread: I think Asante Samuel gets plenty of credit around here for being what he is. A pretty good corner.

As for Asante Samuels, there is no such player on the Patriots roster.

Happy?

PS: You're now crying for Asante appreciation, but wasn't it you that not long ago started a thread making fun of Samuel calling him Assante?

Grow. Up.

I think he has been appreciated just fine on this board. against the dolphins everyone on this board it seemed minus me voted him as the player of the game and people were raving again after this last game.
I hope he gets resigned as long as its not for top five (or maybe even ten) corner money. because he is not that, he is good, but not top ten/pro bowl level.

To be fair, since you're asking so nicely for serious conversation on your desired topic, here is my reply to your actual thread:

I think Samuel is a good corner, but yes I do think his INTs this season have been because a couple of QBs made horrible decisions and threw it right at him (one by Losman and one by Harrington). Yes, he baited the throws, but a good QB doesn't get baited that easily.

Also, his one pick that wasn't a bad throw was off of a deflection where Hobbs (or maybe Scott) actually made the play to break up the WRs catching motion and create the tip.

Samuel is not a shut down corner. He allows alot of catches and alot of yards. If some team signs him and pays him as a #1 CB then their defensive backfield will not be very good. If he sticks here or is signed somewhere else for solid #2 money then he'll be fine.

If it was Hobbs with all Samuels picks, people would be going crazy.

Silly conjecture. This part of your post is simply requesting that the Hobbs camp and Samuel camp come here to duke it out. There is no actual substance in this comment.

To address the issue that your empty comment brings up: Hobbs last season was playing better coverage than Samuel. Hobbs this season was playing pretty damn good coverage before he got hurt. He had a bad game against the Dolphins, but against Buffalo I think he picked up where he left off before his injury.

Hobbs can't get many Ints when QBs throw to the other CB's man.

Can someone explain this to me?
what has he done that causes all this Doubt about Asante?

Samuel is inconsistent, which you'd know if you watched all the games. He makes some big plays, but also gives up alot of yards and alot of catches. I think he's gotten better each season with the exception of the majority of 2005. This season he looks more like 2004 Asante, probably a little better than that. He's still not consistent enough on a play to play basis to be a #1 corner in this league, IMO.

I wasn't the one who did that.

But i do think it's funny.

Mostly because of the responses of outrage, not because of the joke itself.

I didn't mean for it to sound like Hobbs campt and Samuel's camp come here to duke it out.

I just get the impression on here that Hobbs gets more credit than he deserves and Samuel gets less.

that's what i meant when i said people would be talking up Hobbs more if he had made those picks instead of Asante.

Maybe i got the wrong impression, i don't know.
