Article: Moss Viking stories leaking out...

Apparently in Minnesota hating on the catering is way worse than MMSing your wang.

Minnesotans love them some catering.

When I first read the article I had to re-read it, looking for a link to the Onion. Then I saw Silver's name and just thought the shark has now officially jumped the boat.
Boat? What boat? The saying is "jumped the shark", it comes from the episode of Happy Days where Fonzie jumped over a shark on his surfboard. There's no boat.

Oh, yikes.

But that is still not the only reason he was cut. No way.

Exactly. The food story might be part of it but even Chills isn't crazy enough to flush a draft pick because of Randy's food critique lol. Two teams in less than a month should pretty much say it all.

One team traded him for a (high) 3rd, a business decision. The other team, who knows wtf they are thinking. But dropping Moss is good for our 3rd rounder

Water skis. Fonzie don't surf.

You can find great authentic BBQ all over the north. Boston has it (Red Bones), Providence (Wes's), New York City (Blue Smoke), and heck, even Syracuse and Rochester have it (Dinosaur). These places rank with any of the places down south.

Some days I wonder if Patsfans.com has become TMZ. Today it has become the Food Channel.

I think the fascination with THIS particular topic has to do with the fact (for me anyway) that what I (and others here) knew before (BB was right to make this decision) has now become starkly evident to everyone else. Now BB is a master con-artist. 4 weeks ago he had given up on the season. It's crazy times.

I guess that makes sense. It is weird what an amazing lightning rod Moss is for discussion, though. I can't quite figure out why. I like the guy. But, in the end, other than snickering about the Vikings getting bamboozled out of a third, Moss is a bit of an irrelevance to me.

Some of you guys mentioned the Kraft Sponsors event and Moss's actions... what's that about?

Steve Burton et. al. said that early this year at a Pats event to honor sponsors Moss was assigned to the Raytheon table. Left the table, sat in the corner face to the wall tuned out with his ubiquitous earphones on. Was asked (by BB?) to return to the table and ignored all entreaties.

It was Potsie on a skateboard.

They better send him some lobstahs and resign him before the Colts do.

I understand the Moss release is big news...future hall of famer....potentially self-destructive.....Childress....blah, blah, blah...

Yet, all last week: Favre's ankle. Favre's ankle! FAVRE'S ANKLE!!! Then, OMG!!!!! Favre in a stretcher! Favre 8 stiches!!! Favre with his 765th self-idulgent presser. Somehow.....interestingly enough....this week no Favre news? What? Ankle is fully healed? You mean no concussion??? You mean those stitches were taken like a wrangling man???? Wait? What? Sterger may talk to the NFL???

Color me a little skeptical. I beleive this Moss drama is OVER-DRAMATIZED because it leaves ESPN's favorite d-bag covered in roses. Nary a word about Favre? Really? Since when? It's so obvious to me. I mean, at the very least, no comments from Lord ESPN Favre on the Randy release? Please....

I assume you have never met Moss, so I wonder how you can comment on how likely his behavior that is being reported is.

Andy, do you need anything more than the two infamous press conferences this year?

Seriously.

Based on what I knew about Favre filtered through the lens of sports media coverage I would have put the likelihood of him showing off an itty schlong as extremely low. Shows what I know.

My bad. I do know the cliche, it somehow failed to correctly go from my cranium to the keyboard. Probably shouldn't post comments while simultaneously responding to customer's emails and talking to the boss on the phone. Though I suppose if I'm going to butcher one of those three things, the comment here would be the preferable choice.

Regardless, the comment still stands. It does seem to me that Vikings had a knee jerk reaction with little or no attempt to rectify the situation. Not a very smart business decision to give up on your investment so quickly and easily, in my opinion.

Perhaps one day the light bulb will go on and some of you will come to apprecaite there is way more to playing football at a championship level than mere talent or x's and o's prowess. Particularly on a team that runs a specific system and schemes predicated on accountability and unselfish devotion to team first principles. That's why they were so fortunate to land a kid like Brady whose intangibles were beyond a prototypical match for the not just the schemes but the system and top to bottom organizational philosophy.

Who says we don't appreciate the way BB/TB/Krafts are running the show or don't realize how fortuate us fans are to see the Pats do so well in the 12 years?? And we need a light-bulb? gosh.... Not sure if this is plain arrogance or immature insolence.

Where is a psychologist when we need one!

I personally wish the more experienced posters back off making constant attacks on an individual player when they (the posters) know very well that there are so many things going on behind the scenes that none of us casual fans will ever know.

By all means add your opinions on the players, especially if their actions or lack of are reflecting bad on the team. However, why not restrict it to a few instead of continous attacks - with so much contempt - on various threads? It looks similar to a troll; worse, the shrill tone hides any finer points that you are trying to make.

Really, you couldn't tell Brett Favre was an attention starved, narcissistic show-off????

I knew that, I just didn't know he was a poorly hung exhibitionist with an unhealthy obsession for women who are not his wife who look just like his wife when she was 15 years younger. Weird, I know.

LOL!

I don't think this is entirely true either (meaning it's out there like "Tom looks like a girl" got out there) but I also don't think Moss is a perfectly behaved person who just happens to be mistreated everywhere he goes.

I mean, if you honestly believe that (and many still do) I REALLY think you are living in some kind of total denial.

eta: the "you" wasn't directed at you, robertweathers, just a general "you".

You see some people can't ever back down from where they stood originally. In the broadcast on Sunday Phil Simms seemed to suggest that Moss didn't look to be traded from the Patriots at all but kinda felt it was going to happen. I would find that more believable than he had a big falling out or was demanding a trade especially when Belichick went out of his way to say that never happened and actually got angry with reporters that were suggesting it(and Belichick rarely gets angry at a presser).

In hindsight having seen Brandon Tate on Sunday it looks entirely possible now that Belichick felt that Tate has passed Moss on the depth chart and looking ahead decided to get a 3rd round pick in 2011 rather than a 5th the year after.

The situation in Minnesota seems to me to be a coach who has lost the locker room. Releasing Moss appears idiotic at best to me given the way he has opened things up for Percy Harvin in recent weeks. Like if you look at the last two weeks they have been beaten by two really good teams and not by much either. In fact I'd go as far as to say that coaching decisions have been a huge part of both loses.

As happened here when Moss was traded the rumours start and there are plenty of gullible people who want to believe the rubbish that the mediots will report. I don't believe for one minute that Moss did anything like whats been reported in the op.

And looking at it from a different perspective wouldn't it be a smart move by Childress to release Moss and try and put the recent losses down to him being a problem in the locker room given that the mediots had already come out and claimed he fell out with the management in New England?

I do believe that Moss may have spoken to teammates about how different things are in Minnesota to New England and maybe even how the Patriots are so much more professional and that got back to Childress and he took it personally.

Well, didn't he do that in his press conference for the world to hear? Sure sounded like it And I think that was a HUGE reason he was let go.
