Are you all in on CB Travis Hunter at 4 (Hunter as a WR?)

Absolutely agree with you. Light was a 2nd rounder who protected the GOAT for 10 seasons.. like Campbell he too didn't have long arms.. light played with great technique and smarts... Campbell has the same traits.
Light was solid. But, there's no way a comp to him should be taken at #4 Overall. That's one of those guys you get on Day 2 or 3.

Our best path to Hunter.

1.Ward
2. Carter
3, Sanders.
4. Hunter

Party at Gillette.

If It goes

1.Ward
2.Sanders,
3. Hunter.
4. Carter

Party at Gillette,

Any other

Hunter looks like he's got the tools to flourish in a McD offense - quick off the line and can get open in short/intermediate routes and the ability to make YAC. McD's offense never called for the QB to hold on to the ball for a long time.

McMillan would not make sense in a McD offense. Warren could flourish but him at #4 would be a reach.

For me it's still Carter if he's available. Hunter is next. And if these guys are not there, trade back get more picks so you can get multiple OLs.
I agree with your premise. But given that this draft is not good from picks 4-5 to 15 (as they're all rated about the same), it's just a question of what positions any given team values. However, what if Warren does become a "Baby Gronk" just as a Rookie. He can learn from Henry and Hooper and won't have the burden of the entire TE position being on him. Plus, with proper coaching, he has the ability to exceed his current skill level. Until we do get a true #1 WR, having a TE who could be "Top End" would go a long way to helping Maye this year and beyond. At his prime, Gronk kept DC's up at night. He was their #1 weapon, with Jules and James White (a long with an overall solid ground game) rounding out their offense. I would take Warren at #4, or better yet, if we can trade back just far enough to grab an extra pick and still take him.

What if he comes inn and plays both positions full time at an all pro level. In 3 years, what kind of contract do you think he’d get? Myles Garret Money, or QB money?
That would be a really good problem to have. And considering he's a top 5 pick, we wouldn't have to worry about it until after he had given us 5 years of service. Plus the franchise tag is there for use to keep him around, did you see what happened to Tee Higgins with the Bengals?

Hahaha. If you think a player who’s a double all pro, and as hyped as hunter has been from day one, won’t be holding out or asking for a new contract as soon as he’s eligible for an extension (year 3). I don’t know what to say to ya. Let’s not forget he’d be playing 2 of the most diva positions in the sport. If he lives up to his hype, there is absolutely zero way in the world he plays the full 5 years on a rookie contract. Let alone 2 more years under the franchise tag.

You conveniently reference Higgins while leaving out the Chase situation. As much as I’d love to have chase, I’d hate to be in the position the bengals are due to players like chase. There’s no way that team can justify paying both those receivers. Chase is overpaid period. Don’t get me started on Higgins. It reminds me of the manning colts. Not a team building approach I fancy.

I'll worry about it once he makes the all-pro teams. This is seriously putting the cart before the horse.
It's still not a good reason not to take the most talented players possible when you get the chance to do so.

That's why I'll keep mentioning the drafting.. that ultimately is why we had 4-13 consecutive seasons and the worst roster in football... we should have already had our LTs solidified.. we cannot go into the season with lowe as our only option at LT. I do like the bradbery pick up at C.. Andrews failed his physical and will likely retire.

Pay your stars or become cheap like kraft. X get used to last place

He's not only the best WR receiver in the draft but he's the best player. If he's there and we don't take him it's a decision that will haunt us.
Right up there with the “McConkey” fiasco!’

If they fix the left tackle position now in free agency, but the options to fix it are running out. They should add another DT as well.

If they do this ^ I’d be more onboard to make this draft pick.

I’ll add this, if they drafted Hunter and used him as a two way player, they could do the same with Marcus Jones and they’d have two really explosive fast weapons on offense.

That would fill a need for speed and give them plenty of defensive options at slot CB.

Matt Light was a 3 time pro bowler and made an all pro team. Not saying he's a HOFer or anything, but if you know a player is going to have that career at that position then he's easily a day 1 pick. If you draft a guy #4 and he has that career, that's only going to be seen as a terrible move if you passed out on someone else in discussion for the pick who just ends up way better.

Just over a month away and the majority of mocks now have travis’s name at #4
I’ve been saying for months both QBs will be taken before NE picks. Hunter or Carter will be available at 4.

You mean the Manning Colts that was 14- or 13-3 every year, won a superbowl, and was always exciting to watch?

Sign me up for that if the alternative is what we have watched the last 6 years will be the trend for the next 6

When you compare a college player to a former or current NFL player, you are saying they will have the same career as that person.

Do you truly think Matt Light would have been to Pro Bowls and got an All Pro if he got drafted by thr Bucs or Browns instead of the Patriots?

The comp to Matt Light isn't great either as Matt Light has 33 1/2" arms. And Matt Lights measurables and tape from college made him a 2nd rd pick.

If we were talking Campbell in the bottom of the 1st RD, I think most folks would be on board with the pick.

I've seen pro scout reports that comp Hunter to: J. Jefferson, D. Smith, OBJ
Add that to the CB value as a WR bust insurance, and this guy is worth a #4.
The WR we're looking for - speed, route running, separation, savvy. We sucked to get this high of a pick. Let's make it count.

DE's & OT's are available all throughout the draft. Let's get the offensive threat that so many other teams find, and we haven't.

They won one Super Bowl. That’s great. But winning one Super Bowl in 10+ years with one of the top 3 QB’s of all time, is actually a pretty big let down.
