He has worked hard to at the very least earn himself a career in the league ...

Curran is suggesting we load up at talent in the 1st.. WR LT. And get a QB in the second. He seems to think that Zapp could be the starter come next season if he plays well. If Zapp could end up being that guy.. then me and @sb1 I don't think would have an issue with adequate QB play..

I think fans put too much stock that a top round QB is a guaranteed pick. If the Patriots don't believe in any of the top guys go Marvin Harrison who is almost guaranteed to be a stud.

The Mac Jones draft was supposed to be generational! Everyone except Trevor Lawrence has been a bust. And even he has been average.

Look at Bryce young. Looks like a bust. Maybe it's the situation he's in. But by the time the Panthers get good enough he may be broken.

On the other hand, look at how a guy like Browning is playing throwing to chase/Higgins. Purdy was the last pick. And he's successful because he's throwing to Deebo/little and has mccafrey.

My point being. If you aren't 100% confident in the QB this team has enough needs where you need to think about filling the offense with talent.

That's drafting scared. Don't draft scared. You like a guy go get a guy.

Well that's what I mean. If you like a guy draft him. But don't just draft a QB you don't believe in because you need one

They do need one.

I agree they do. But if patriots have a top pick and internally don't believe any of these guys will amount to anything it's a wasted pick.

If they believe this is the guy then take him.

Don't forget Brandon Aiyiuk.

Mission accomplished

Removed Corky Mac from the future of this franchise. I believe that KC gets back on track Sunday for the win.

Once I breakdown the draft and determine the prospects I like, once the draft happens and they get assigned to their respective teams... what I thought about them as prospects goes out the window. All that matters from that point forward is how they play.

Zappe was a good QB prospect and a great prospect relative to where he was taken in the draft.

His senior year he passed for the most yards and TD's for a single season in college football history... passing Joe Burrow. He completed 69% of his passes, his QB Rating ranks a respectable 6th all-time for a single season.

He's only 6'1" tall but is a stocky 220 pounds. He was very accurate at the combine and tossed a 50 yard bomb that was right on time, so he has a fairly strong arm.

He was a good prospect... none of that matters now. All that matters is how he plays, and if he continues to improve going forward. Mac looked decent early, then took a flaming nose dive after teasing us with flashes of good for two years. Zappe has to grow each week and fix his mistakes. We need to see visible improvement and flashes of greatness.

What I can say about him so far in a very limited sample size is firstly, he runs a clean operation. Notice there haven't been a lot of penalties with him under center, there's not a lot of two receivers going in motion at the same time, there's not a lot of offensive lineman jumping offsides, there's no delay of game penalties. He has control of the huddle and there's not a lot of pre snap penalties like we saw with Mac.

There's also not a lot of free blitzes catching him unaware at the snap of the ball, he does a decent (not perfect) job of spotting pressure before the snap of the ball. He also moves well in the pocket and feels pressure. When he has been sacked it was the result of a lineman simply getting beat.

Lastly he has shown some touch on the ball, some zip on the ball, and more importantly having watched Mac for too long he seems to know when to employ both. He has zipped the ball into some tight windows, he has looked DB's off with head fakes, he shows some overall competence and checks it down when nothing is there... rather than take a coverage sack or make an ill advised throw like Mac did.

Here is Zappe so far:

3-1 record, 73-108 attempts, 67.6 completions, 878 yards, 6 TD's/2 INT's, 8.13 YPA, 103.1 QB Rating

Too small a sample size to make a definitive statement, but too good to say he sucks or can't be a potential starter eventually.

Some here are desperate to say "BB sucks" and has to go, so they don't want to admit this kid (a BB draftee) might turn out okay. An objective fan takes emotion out of it and judges each player on his own merits. I'm not a homer, I'm simply not a hater.

Agreed. I just get a feeling that we aren't taking a QB.. in the first round. we need adequate Play at that position of course. Bill won't be here to say nay on Harrison Jr and take a left tackle from the university of Chattanooga. We need this roster up to modern nfl standards.

I don't think you will find any argument from anyone if Zapp continues to play well.. be the REASON the team wins or is in a winning situation. It would be hard to argue about his status for next season. No one can ever Question Bill as a coach. Of course he's hit on some drafted players. A broke clock is correct sometimes as well. We'll always appreciate Bill and everything he's done for the organization and NFL. It's just time to move the organization ahead we've been in Reverse 3 seasons in a row.

The draft is a crapshoot, the 49ers missed wildly by trading three firsts for Trey Lance, they hit the ball squarely on the head by taking Purdy with the very last pick. If Zappe plays great for the remainder of the season, not saying he will but if he does, they should bring BB back.

We also don't know what went on behind the scenes, if Kraft inserted himself to give Mac a longer leash, then he should extend that leash to BB to fix it with another guy he drafted. They should draft another QB in any case this offseason, you don't put all your eggs into one basket. But this current team and defense with a great QB playing is a substantially better team than it looked with Mac.

Agreed. They should absolutely draft another QB. But I believe like on Mac the ships sailed with Bill also. On Purdy taking Nothing away from him ,but he's in perfect situation. I'd need to see him where everything wasn't good around him. The defense undermanned has done well they will be at full strength next season with some reinforcements in FA as well. I as a fan don't persay want Bill gone, but it's not up to us it's all about what ownership thinks. No matter if you are a 23 year tenured coach with 6 rings here or Brendan Staley the NFL is a production based business. I don't care who is the QB next season as long as they play adequately and be conducive to us winning.

Agreed. Adequate QB play, and having the player's at the skill positions are exactly what's conducive to winning in the NFL. I don't know that Williams or any rookie out there will come in and be the savior. I can bet you the organization is banking on Zapp playing well and him being able to be the guy. Adding some guys on offense and look like an a capable NFL roster. That's a perfect situation for them in thier minds.

Yes Caleb is same size but has a tremendous arm and other wordly mobility
Pats shoukd consider him if he is there
He does have an awesome arm and makes throws effortlessly that a lot of QBs can’t make. Scares me though. His dad seems like a meddling Lavar Ball type. Very emotional player, could be a good thing or a bad thing at the next level. Definitely don’t doubt his talent though. Lot of interviews and workouts for the Patriots scouts to figure out. Plenty of time to figure it out before the draft.

The Panthers spent a bunch of capital to pick a guy first overall who looks like he's dwarfed by Drew Brees who is not exactly tall. Yikes.
Cripes - Brees is shorter than Zappe for cryin out loud.

Other... Ask me after the Chefs game...
