I understand what you're saying. The point I was making was that back in those years, the NFC clearly had not only the better team going into the Super Bowl, but also the best teams (plural) in nearly every one of the seasons. Whatever team got to the Super Bowl was clearly better than any AFC team; the NFCCG was the real battle to determine the league's best team while the Super Bowl was just a formality. Regardless of whether you were looking at the two teams prior to the Super Bowl or with the benefit of hindsight after the game, the NFC team was always clearly superior.I am not pointing out what regular season records were in terms of dominance, this is strictly based on the point of who is showing up more in the biggest game of the year...and lately in 3 of 4 the NFC has outplayed, outcoached, made fewer mistakes and has wanted it more than the AFC teams did....like it was 2 decades ago
Is the NFC more talented in terms of overall players than the AFC?....perhaps you could say that might be the case now but you would have to dig deep into every teams roster to find that answer.
In comparison the last four Super Bowls could have easily gone either way. Yes, the NFC has won three out of the last four. But considering how close the games have been - one single play could have reversed the outcome in each of those games - it's hard for me to say that the NFC is dominating the AFC right now.
To me 'dominating' is a clearly superior team winning easily in blowouts year after year after year. That has not been the case at all over the last four years, so I personally would not characterize the NFC as dominating the AFC right now - nor do I see a reason to expect that they will that over the next decade.
