Are there any players who have left who....

Law was on IR the year before! He had previously made 4 Pro Bowls and was named All Pro twice with the Pats. You really can't say he had "more success" after leaving.

Pro Bowl and a career high in interceptions. I have no idea why you would think I can't call that "more success".

Look again at the numbers and you might be surprised. He had more receptions with the Saints, but many fewer carries -- less than 1 per game. He averaged 2.5 carries per game with the Patriots. And compare Evans' 6-game first Patriots season with his 6-game first Saints season:

Patriots - 51 carries, 192 yds; 10 receptions, 88 yards
Saints - 5 carries, 16 yds; 10 receptions, 70 yards

I don't see how you can look at those Saints numbers and conclude he's had more success since leaving New England.

You're looking at his entire Patriots career rather than where he was when he left. At that point, you're not really talking success. You're just talking tenure with the team.

Evans 2009:
5 starts (Same as 2007 and 2008 combined)
10 catches (3 more than in 2007 and 2008 combined)
5 carries for 16 yards and a 3.2 ypc (on pace for more carries than 2008, and a better ypc, although he did have more carries and a better ypc in 2007)

Sacks aren't 100% of the job description.

Yeah, they resigned him in 2001 only to release him that fall for what wiki described as team reasons, which could have been anything from cap to conduct related, or Syemour's arrival making him a luxury they coulnt' afford. Who knows, maybe they needed the roster spot for a 4th QB... I have no recollection what was said at the time. Cleveland claimed him but kept him only that season. We won the SB, Cleveland didn't. I 2002 he landed in the right place at the right time...

Generally speaking when we undertake these exercises in context we are discussing the Patriots in the BB era.

Empty stats on losing teams don't equal success. I loved Wiggie, but he was what he was and that's why Bill moved on. And you'd be right about Graham if not for the fact that you're wrong...
I guess everyone has their own definition of success. To me individual success and team success are two different things.

As an absurd example, that way of looking at success would mean that Wiggins was more successful than Tony Gonzalez or Antonio Gates, Larry Izzo was more successful than Andre Tippett, Adrian Klemm and Damien Woody were more successful than John Hannah, etc.

Obviously the Pats teams that Graham played for in New England were more successful than the Broncos have been the last three years. I just think he has a bigger role in Denver than he did with the Pats.

Only the stats don't back you up, either.

You misread my statement.

He has not been better in KC than he was here.

Not saying he dropped off any.

Another poster mentioned Woody as having success in NY and I would agree. Hes been very solid.

Its the same with Vrabel at OLB.

Well, for the last few years we've had an old team, so guys were either retiring Patriots or leaving as a shell of their former selves. The real test of this comes 4-5 years after a really good draft. For the last few years, we just haven't had many very good players leave. Looks like we'll see with Mankins soon enough...

Graham has averaged 15 games started and 16 games played per season in Denver; he averaged 10 games started and 13 games played in New England.

Graham is averaging 28 receptions per year with Denver; it was 24 with the Pats.

Graham is averaging 308 yards receiving with the Broncos; it was 278 in New England.

Graham did score more touchdowns with the Pats (3.4 per year versus 2.3 per year with the Broncos), but overall I would say statistically he has been slightly more successful with the Broncos than with the Pats.

It's uncommon, but David Thomas is one big whoppin' example.

Did anyone else notice that Dave Thomas said something to BB during the practices this summer? I wonder if it was a rude comment....maybe something about a new ring. Or drafting a bunch of TE's this year.

I'm not so sure Seymour fits that category. Thomas definitely. Samuel too. Randall Gay is another one. Gaffney too. Damian Woody was a failure in Detroit, but seems to have resurrected himself in NY.

Not sure how Gay fits in there because he's been injured more often than not with New Orleans..
