There are no shots...nothing to see here.

I'll take my shots here. I wasn't too happy and wondered about Talib after the missed the AFCCG in 2012, but my doubts went through the roof when i saw him return to the sideline against the bronco's as it really looked like he was good to go, and then Dennard spent several minutes imploring him to go back out on the field, or at least it really looked that way to me, while Talib kept shaking his head no and never gave it a try. I really felt like Talib was saving himself for free agency and really let them down when they needed him most, however there was no information that would let us know whether that was the case. Today we find out that it was a bruise, a godamn f*&@%ing bruise, are you &%****%^&* kidding me, no f*&^($#@g way.Get the F*&% out of here.

A bruise.

seriously.

Logan Mankins plays the Super Bowl with a torn ACL and Talib can't play with a #$#%$#@#$ bruise.

Adios Nancy, don't let the bag of ice hit you on the way out the door.

We Got Revis. To put that in perspective, Talib is the Joey Galloway to Revis Randy Moss, without the batsh.t crazy stuff. From a good player who plays well until bruised to the first ballot HOF SHUTDOWN CORNER OF HIS TIME.

I can honestly say that i never thought this would happen, especially this way, when Revis could have gotten himself the best free agent deal out of any on the market he takes a one year deal to play for Belichick, and make no mistake, that's what it is about as he decided the shot at the ring and playing for the GOAT coach with the GOAT QB was worth more than the money. Frigging awesome. The Patriots got a whole lot better today(actually yesterday now)

The Steve Smith indecent was the first time I really felt that maybe the 'new' Talib was a self-aware old Talib. He says the right things when he has to. Doesn't mean he isn't the same guy that pistol whips and fires shots at his sister's boyfriend. The 'injury' at Denver sealed the deal for me.

Imagine if the Patriots had signed Talib to the same contract the Broncos gave him. Then the Broncos got Revis on a short, cheaper deal. Things could have worked out a hell of a lot worse for New England.

From what I hear his sister's boyfriend is a child molester, so what Talib did there never really bothered me.

I actually had that in the plus column for him.

Fortunately I can't imagine Belichick giving Talib 60 million, christ I am still in shock he gave Revis 12 for a season, although in retrospect it makes much more sense to me now than it did before, as he ponied up almost 10 for Welker a couple of years ago, he will spend big short term when he feels he needs to, what he doesn't like is long term with big guarantees.

To your point-This place would have gone ballistic if Belichick gave Talib 60 million and Revis went to Denver for 12.

I have a feeling that's the sort of thing he HAD to say to sell Denver on shelling out the big money.

I really hope the "bone bruise" thing was him just trying to downplay the whole Welker hit incident, since I hate the idea of him quitting on us in such an important game. If he's telling the truth however, then I'd question his drive. We can rag on Gronk or Amendola for their lack of durability, but I wouldn't question their toughness (IE: mental drive, willingness to continue to attempt playing in spite of injury) for a second... If Talib actually did quit in the AFCCG... Well let's just say that for Denver's sake, they better hope that Talib's new contract will prompt him to focus all of his energy to stepping up his game.

He quit on them.

I guess the Patriots will just have to sick Amendola on him.

Que the snarky comments about how Amendola will get injured trying to do that.. You know "delicate force meets shatterable object".. Maybe we can resign Edelman and try that play?

Given Talib's injury history though, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't at 100% when the Pats play Denver in the regular season.

Doesn't change the fact that he shot at the guy with one gun and then attempted to pistol whip him with another gun. He also attacked a cab driver from the back seat of a taxi. While holding his helmet by the facemask, he slammed it into a teammates face. The reason? His teammate was trying to cool down an altercation between Talib and a different player. Add his drug suspension from a few years ago on top of all that, and you have what appears to be a bad person. Good player? yeah. But still, not exactly someone you can expect to make good decisions over the course of six years.

Someone else's 26 million guaranteed problem now. Best of luck Aqib.

I loved talib here and I'll never forget the walk to the bench after the game winning knock down in Atlanta, and when he then crossed his leg on his lap and sat back. It was like he was thinking just another day at the office. Pure boss.

Also, I'll never forget his performance against graham. Holding him to 0
Catches says it all.

I wish he was able to play in at least one AFCCG so it wouldn't of tainted his stint here.

I wish him the best except for when he plays us.

Now with that being said, when I heard we signed revis I did dances and motions that I would never want anyone else to see...

This is exactly how I feel.

Talib was great here, when he was playing. He decided he wanted to go to the biggest offer. Can't fault him for it, even though it was the Broncos. They severely overpaid for him. The minute I heard Revis might be available, that was the guy I was hoping the Pats would spend the money on. And I'm so glad they did.

Felger and Mazz have this saying bout the Patriots, that it seems like they would rather have 3 ponies then a horse most of the time. Well, and to use Felger exact words, he said it best. Your not getting a horse with Revis, your getting a stallion. I think that's how we all feel this morning.

I liked Talib most of the time, but his skirmishes with Jimmy Smith last year soured me as to how volatile he could be.

No matter what the injury was or how it was incurred, is not important.. the Pats resurrected his career, and helped him grown and mature so he could get this contract.

His comments, show that he has not changed all that much, the Bronco's overpaid for him... now to take bets on how long he will be tolerated there.

I was fine with letting Talib go given his deal from Denver even without Revis in the fold.

I'm sorry, but with the guy's history I'd be nervous paying him anything beyond a prove it to me deal. I think he was a good soldier in NE, but now that he's got $26 mil guaranteed in his pocket, I have a hard time believing that there won't be a few off field incidents, distractions and a less than 100 % commitment from him going forward.

The thing is, why bring it up at all? Why does he have to say anything about NE? Same with Welker. They only got what they got BECAUSE they played here, AFAIC, and they should just shut up. Talib said such nice things while he was here, he goes to Denver and then starts yapping about us? First of all, saying he got a bruise only makes him look like he lacks drive, so I don't know why you'd want to broadcast that. And secondly, it is just unnecessary.

Spikes leaves the Patriots after being placed on IR before the big game and under a suspicion that he wasn't maintaining professionalism. Spikes publicly comments: 'I don't want to burn bridges but both me and the team probably need a fresh start'.
Talib leaves the Patriots after BB stood up for him against an arguable cheap shot, also put him in position to go from perceived troublemaker to a problem free top CB (put in position, Talib then took advantage of it). Talib publicly takes shots (albeit mild ones) at the Patriots/BB.

I would have liked to seen Talib stay. He made an impact and we were better when he was playing healthy. Unfortunately his asking price made it risky, maybe too risky, to re-sign him. Yet when players leave and talk smack about the organization that had a direct hand in allowing one to earn a super hefty contract, man does it make easier to 'adios, glad you're gone Talib'.
