Im not liking that he isnt signed yet. Starting to worry just a lil.

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

thinking about it all day.

Seems very very odd. Like they're seeing what else is out there before committing to him

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

He's going to get done I do believe. I understand why other fans fly off the handle but we are quite methodical. hoping for teh best.

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

I'd feel better if he were under contract, but the Pats are probably less worried about re-signing him and more concerned with (1) Wilfork, (2) Peppers (not any more obviously), (3) Bodden, (4) TBC (not any more). I hope they'll get his deal done, but it makes sense they'd have spent their time elsewhere first.

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

the pats need another option as a 3rd down back...even if they sign faulk

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

Absolutely not. He's the one guy I am 100% confident will be back.

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

He will be back. His family and friends are here; he has charities here. My guess is he's checking the free agent market to see the best offer, and then the Patriots will offer him something in the ballpark.

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

Marshall Faulk was on Felger show during SB week and said Faulk will definitely come back if Pats want him. But he thought the Pats might just see what else is out there first. Marshall is Kevin's cousin, so he probably knows what he's talking about.

Re: Anyone getting nervous about #33??

Not as stressed about 33 as I am with other areas to improve on the team.

I expect this deal to get done. Faulk is still a very productive player at his age, he led the team in YPC last season, and he is the team's best pass blocker at the RB position.

beat me pats1

No worry whatsoever. Marshall Faulk said he talked to Kevin (they are cousins eventhough distant) and Kevin told him that either he is going to be a Patriot or a former Patriot, former NFL player. It is the Pats or retirement.

If you were referring to my username crowell "33", I know that I haven't posted in a while but I'm fine. Nothing to be nervous about.

PHEEEEWWWWW!!! thank lord.

Good news.

Doesn't mean he didn't hold off on a modestly disappointing offer to see if somebody else blew him away the first day.

By the way, Faulk in my opinion has had exactly one year in a row where he looked like he was declining, and that was modest and could have been for any of a number of reasons. I really want him back.

The Pats would rather let a player go a year too early than a year too late, and that could well be now for Faulk. He will be 34 in training camp, how many players drafted in 1999 are still in the league? When the decline starts history says it will probably be rapid.

At a good price it would be nice to have him back as a role player, but I don't see it as as big a deal as many seem to think. If you are counting on him to be a critical part of the team you are probably deluding yourself.

Did you think this post through at all? Don't lie.....

The man has seen limited use every season compared to most backs of his tenure, his cost has always been low for the production, and his skills have seen little to no decline. This isn't even counting the benefit of having a player of his stature and caliber in the locker room of a team that sorely needs leaders. No one expects or wants him to 'carry the load', and that's never been on the table.

Honestly, I would carry 52 guys if that was the penalty for keeping Kevin around. I doubt I'm alone.

Did you perceive a decline last season, or is this more of a general concern on your part? I didn't see any real slippage, but I may have missed it while going through the season in "Kevin's being Kevin" mode, because I just accepted his play without really looking hard at it.

Also, if you did see that decline, do you have anyone in particular in mind as a possible replacement? Are you leaning towards the idea of making an offer to Washington, for example?
