Anyone else want a OL?

Dude, watch the tape Beatty is softer than the Easter Bunny! We want nasty not the son of two preachers! Ugh!

"Softer than the Easter Bunny" is Max Unger, as far as I am concerned. Beatty could be a bit nastier, but you can't teach his kind of footwork. Scar would toughen him up.

A lot of the best Guards were college tackles who convert to guard in the pros, long term projects, and smaller school guys. The Pats should be able to find a good guard prospect in the middle to late rounds.

Generally speaking, yes. This year, though, I think the top four guards prospects are the C/G types...and not the OT converts....I think Luigs is every bit as good as Mack, Wood, and Unger, although that doesn't seem to be the consensus.

. Wasn't Cassell sacked over 40 times last year and I still have nightmares about the Gman in the SB.
I do hope we get a solid OL this draft.

Yeah, Cassel was sacked a ton, but a lot of that was him, not the line.

Yep, count me in to the OL bandwagon ... I'd happily take an OT and OG plus an OLB and S in the top 4 picks

No 1. priority on this team must be giving Brady time and keeping him healthy ... if we score 40 points it doesnt matter if we aren't always rushing the passer

As a practical matter, I suspect that we've already signed our guard who will compete with Yates.

We need a tackle AND a guard.
Light is getting old, Kaczur is below avg, Neal is old, we aren't paying Mankins when his deal expires, and Hochstein is old plus just a backup.

Whoa, hold on a second. Light is only 30. He easily has 4 good years left. Kaczur is not below average. He gets beat once in a while, but so does every OL in the game. That's why guys like Peppers and Haynesworth get huge contracts. And I sure hope you're wrong about Mankins.

O'Callaghan and Yates can play in case of injuries. It would be nice to upgrade these 2 guys, but it certainly doesn't require a top 50 pick to do so, especially with the holes we have at S and LB.

Now how could you doubt mav4's player analysis? If he says a player sucks, then that player sucks - though there's no doubt that player will be re-signed or extended by that no'count Belichick bum.

What about Antoine Caldwell from Bama; he can play both center or guard.

He's right there is the discussion with Luigs, Wood, Mack... There's a nice crop of Centers to work into the mix.

It's a good year for lineman. Not top-heavy, but consistent in the middle rounds. I'm all for defense in NE's top four picks, but one OL in the mix would be the final piece for the offense in the Day One puzzle, I think. (Then adding a receiver in Round 3 or 4.)

Brady must be protected at all costs
Well, not at all costs (Would you trade Seymour, WIlfork, Warren, Mayo and THomas for Olinesmen?) I think OT is something I wouldn't mind seeing taken early in the draft.

I think Light is fine, better than most here think, but RT has been a problem for a long time.

The interior of the line is fine.

Well, the interior is fine except for the fact that we have zero guards signed beyond this season.

I didn't know that. Now I really want a OL or two. Any John Hannah's out there?

well i guess we could sign Mankins, then there'd only be one guard spot to fill. If Kazcur could move over, then we'd have no holes. I guess if you assume that none of our current line was going to be extended, then we should probably draft nothing but oline. I think the posters comment about the interior of the line had to due with upgradability and not contract status. He's probably assuming that if someone's good enough, we'll extend him.
