Just to state it again, these distractions are getting to not be worth the immense talent that is Antonio Brown. In other words, regrettably...

    Cut the beast...

And then trade for Trent Williams with the rest of the salary cap money since Brown acted in a manner detrimental to the team.

I felt "dirty" watching the Patriots game ...
I'm concerned about what message the Patriots are sending ...
When did the Patriots know ...

People get all righteous and concerned and boisterous about accusations they want to believe and not wait for the truth.

    uh ... Jussie Smollett

Brown isn’t adding any money back to the salary cap if he is cut. As a matter of fact, I believe that he’ll count for about 4m or so in 2020, as well.

So we can recoup the money for detrimental conduct, but not from the cap? I misunderstood this from elsewhere.

It would seem a major component of why this controversy sparks such debate on here (and hostility) is that it seems many posting haven't stated plainly whether they care if Brown indeed sexually assaulted someone.

With Brown potentially having sexually assaulted women, what I've been trying to determine is whether the board is (a) saying we need to have a wait and see attitude (aka no witch-hunts!) or (b) that we don't care whether he committed these acts as long as they don't impact his play (aka burn the witches!).

My read of the situation is that most posters have the wait and see attitude, with a few like myself wanting to move on from Brown (perhaps too prematurely). A few posters, however, have been operating from the "women lie about this stuff" to such an extent that it almost feels like they don't care if he committed any of these crimes as long as he is performing for the Patriots.

The final uncomfortable part of this whole thing is whether those on the board would care more about Brown's potential conduct if it was a young, middle class white woman who came forward initially with these accusations. It feels like many of the claims that she is trash, a liar, etc. have a class and racial component that gets swept under the rug.

Who knows. I just know the whole situation is unpleasant no matter how things play out.

I believe that they could have tried to get the pact voided due to failing to disclose information that could prevent him from fulfilling his end of the deal, yes. Of course, getting credit is likely a difficult process that takes time, as we saw with Hernandez and Fanane.

That wouldn’t have come from cutting him, though. I believe that suspension from the league is what you’re thinking of.

I’d be interested in hearing the thoughts of @Miguel for what type of options remain available and what would have to happen for the team to go that route. Perhaps he can drop some knowledge and enlighten both of us. I’m sure it’s been addressed on some level throughout one of the many threads, but I haven’t been able to keep up.

He would have actually had to have done something after signing the contract, meaning, since he's been with the Patriots, for them to be able to void the contract.

    That's not the case.

It is unpleasant, but we have the best coach in NFL history and he happens to think that Brown’s on the field talent is enough that it warrants a chance. He didn’t cost anything in terms of draft compensation and is coming here for a fraction of what he would’ve cost in the spring.

It’s certainly possible that Brown will prove to be an asset even if he ends up with a lengthy suspension, by either returning for the postseason and/or staying with the team beyond 2019 while growing into a better person both on and off the field. Right now his past is haunting him, but that may change and if it does, Belichick and Brady will have one helluva weapon on that side of the ball.

That makes sense. I figured if the civil case was after the signing, that would allow the Patriots to void the contract. But since the events took place prior to signing, I guess they are on the hook for his salary regardless of how bad his actions were. That really locks us into him. I wish we had a chance to hire a private eye / security firm to dig into his personal life before signing; but I guess we had to move fast when we got the chance to sign him.

That's true about him having the potential to change his behavior for the better. It is easy to assume he will just continue to be bad; however, people can change if they see a better way. I hope everyone can move on, whether that means settling with his first accuser or defending his name.

It may get worse before it gets better. That’s a distinct possibility. After all, there was some baggage that came with the acquisition, and it doesn’t seem like he was ever really in an environment where 1) he was held accountable, or 2) he was surrounded by people who genuinely wanted to see him improve as a person.

Like an addict getting clean, he may have to battle some old issues before he’s able to finally turn the page and move forward.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where women are not believed on all levels. The common denominator seems to be that these women all want something, while many of us withhold opinions based on judicial or other legal proceedings. The reality is one could be an opportunist, several increases the culpability of the accused.

AB is not a nice man, is not a pillar of the community.. sounds like an entitled man with no boundaries, who is used to getting away with a lot of crap.. he does what he wants without an internal moral compass..

From my comfy couch let him go and allow him to deal with the morass of his mounting legal issues away from the Patriots organization... not much good will happen from any of this..

It’s difficult to assess “how I feel” about this charge. Especially since the plaintiff initially asked for money privately and when refused, brought civil charges.

That doesn’t happen in my economic sphere, so it’s f’d up in my opinion. I’m very skeptical about these charges and that’s ok.

When AB was released, I had no interest in seeing that walking carnival become a Patriot. I was shocked we signed him.

The women shouldn’t be believed until they produce evidence that substantiates their claims. Men who have been on the dating scene with this generation for the last couple of decades know that. They’ll lie for personal gain just like any man would. They’re the accuser. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. That’s how it works. If they produce evidence, then they should be believed.

That’s also to make zero mention of the amount of high profile rape/sexual assault accusations over the last decade that were proven to be false. Cutting him right now, with what we know currently, would be an absolutely brain dead, knee jerk reaction. Luckily, this franchise doesn’t make those. And Kraft lost the ability to get on his (wife’s) high horse over this when he got the $13 special at Orchids of Asia.

I can’t believe there’s an article in the media about a doctor that claims “AB farted in my face repeatedly....and he owes me $11k”

That’s not even newsworthy in my opinion

While I am not going to preach what the patriots should do, I would not be sad if they parted ways with Brown.

Is it the same guy she cheated on? What a simp! He’s gonna need a lot of luck. I notice that boyfriend erased his IG once those videos of AB and his accuser came out.

Looks like AB isn't the only one that doesn't pay his bills, apparently Taylor has a $31k tax lien for back taxes.

Saw video of Mortensen on this matter. He needs to retire, looks like a cadaver and sounds deflated.
