A thread got me thinking. If i was setting up a team from scratch like everyone else using FA. And I could build my team paying players what their fair market price is for how good they are. How would I build me team? How much would i invest at each position? I will use a nice even number of 100M and give out the amount i would pay to each position.

Offensive Starters - 43 M

QB - 13 M
RB - 2 M
TE - 4 M
LT - 6 M
LG 2 M
C 2 M
RG 3 M
RT 4 M
WR1 5M
WR2 2M
WR3 2M

Defensive Starts (and key roll players) - 49 M

DE - 7M
DT - 5M
DT - 2M
DE - 5M
OLB - 4M
MLB - 2M
OLB - 3M
CB - 7M
FS - 3M
SS - 2M
CB - 5M

Nickle CB - 3M
3rd DE - 2M

STs/All other backups 8M (a lot of vet minimums)

Who is your QB?

Well it is not about who is it about level. I would make it a priority to invest in a top 5 QB. That was the only point I was making.

Ideally it be Brady or Rodgers right now.

Well I did it with a 100M cap in mind as opposed to about the 133M we have (which can really be 140M if you push it). So what I meant was about an 18M QB. Which in real money gives you an elite QB (by real money I mean paid that each year as oppose to a 5 years 110M contract which is back loaded than renegotiated in the final year) generally unless you over pay.

If I need to pay more I'll just knock RB down to 1M and give that to the QB.

I know it can come off as a bit confusing that way but I wanted to show with an easy number how much I value the position as % of a team cap.
