Amari Cooper?

Mike Williams is re-signing with the Chargers. Outside of Cooper the top flight receiver options are dwindling quickly.

Supposedly 3/60 with 40 guaranteed...ouch.

Damn, you would think with college football pumping out excellent receivers by the dozen every draft, it would lower prices for a lot of these veteran WR in the market. Williams is as up and down a receiver as you can find and he gets 20m a year.

Make a godfather offer for Metcalf or Lockett. Prefer Metcalf.

They should do whatever they can to get Amari. The pats have NO marquis payers and really have become an irrelevant team in a stacked AFC. THye need some experienced playmakers somewhere.

Cooper is good for 4 games a year and silent the rest. Not a guy worth top dollar.

Saw him up close and personal in Oakland. When he's at his absolute best he's a top 5 receiver. But he lacks motivation and can get rattled easily.

Cooper has never really impressed me in the NFL.

Yeah the way Gilmore made him quit will always stick to my perception of him

Shows how much we overpaid for Agholor.

Actually, the Agholor deal doesn't look so bad compared to Williams. Williams is getting per year what Agholor got for his entire contract give or take a million or two. In other words, Williams is making almost twice as much per year than Agholor.

Not really. If you target him, he is more than capable of showing up. The problem is in Dallas that Dak didn't throw the ball consistently to him.

If Cooper has similar offers from both the Patriots and Miami, that will tell you what type of player he is. If he goes to New England, he will know he is the #1 WR and primary target with a stable organization and what looks to be stability at QB but he also knows he is playing for a no nonsense coach. If he goes to Miami, he is at best the #2 WR and will have to fight for targets in an organization without any stability where the owner might be forced to sell the team and a new head coach who is an unknown, might not survive a regime change even if he is good, and uncertainty at QB. In that scenario, you have to wonder if he could even handle it here if he chooses Miami. If the offers are equal, I think a WR who has the confidence in himself to be The Guy would chose the organization where he would be The Guy and there was more stability.

The thing is I don't know what type of guy Cooper is. His inconsistency issues might tell you that he might opt to go to Miami and not have to deal with rigidness and demands of the Patriots organization.

That’s not true. Targets aren’t magical and arbitrary, you get open, you get targets.
