NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION AFC Championship Game discussion Bills @ KC

The Bills have a chance but their margin for error is very small.
Allen has been on a mission since getting engaged. If they make it back to the big game, there will be the obligatory references to their winless record in it.
An all time great team playing for a three peat at home is not an easy task.
Particularly as they haven't seemed to face the same obstacles their predecessors seeking a threepeat have. It's like the Jordan era in the NBA - Karl Malone is an all time player, but the league was just watered-down.
I will say something positive about Mahomes, even taking into account the refs helping him, he is tremendous, and Kelce too, when a play needs to be made.
It's covered up for the team's shortcomings.

The Bills beat KC once this year, they can do it again. They have to play almost a perfect game though, no TOs. I think the spotlight being on the refs last week or so may help even the field this week.
I was thinking about that. Maybe. It might have to percolate a little bit longer but it’s getting to be a noticeable thing nationally

Here's an interesting article on the historic penalty disparity the Chiefs have benefited from in the playoffs

Analysis of Referee Favoritism Towards the Chiefs Reveals Shocking Result

“The Chiefs have gone 10-1 in those 11 playoff games with two Super Bowl wins and potentially a third on the way,” Sharp writes. “In total, the Chiefs have 36 penalties in those 11 games.

“Their opponents have 66.

“That’s 30 more penalties and nearly 225 more penalty yards against Chiefs opponents as compared to what they have been flagged for.”

“Some of the largest, most significant penalties have gone in favor of the Chiefs,” Sharp writes.

That is an interesting article. Thanks.

If we look closer the timing of those calls could be in favor of KC also. Holding calls on 3rd and 10 are far more punishing than those on 1st and 10.

I didn't have a problem with Mahomes at first but his acting is getting much worse. That call on the sideline in the last game was a result of him holding up to create contact with a charging defender and then doing a Hollyweird dive on an unavoidable light push from the field of play.

I also don't like how he'll fake like he's going out and then cut back for more yards after the defenders relax. He also does a very late slide to create contact.

I see what you did there lol. It's funny because they have let them down 4 times before.
They let me down those 4 games too. I was a Pats fan but also an AFL fan who wanted to see the AFC win.

It's kind of funny when you think of what might have been if Norwood hit that FG instead.

More NFL teams will start encouraging players to date A list celebrities. I’ve never seen refs so scared to call penalties on the Chiefs or be favored in games. They don’t want to piss off Taylor Swift.

I will probably have to watch the game without sound, can’t listen to Romo drueling over Kermit.

Last week was Lamar’s legacy game, this week is Josh’s turn. If he flunks again I won’t believe he’ll ever win a Super Bowl either.

Anyone feeling good about the Bills? I would welcome a dosage of hope.

They have an outside shot but anything can happen. It’s basically Mahomes to Kelce and the KC defense. Chiefs have no running game to speak of (Hunt is washed up and Pacheco has done very little since coming off IR) and their WRs are basically warm bodies. Buffalo’s key to victory is no turnovers, I think even one will kill their chances.

that's not exactly hope there, sir! haha [it is the truth, tho]

I am definitely a Bills' supporter in this game. I like Allen, I do not like Mahomes and his zebras friends, I can't stand Kelce and a thought they can get another ring.

What are realistic expectations for the Eagles? Do they pose a threat to KC in the Super Bowl?

I have a few chickens I am going to sacrifice to the gods today. Then grill them of course. Let's hope my hoobajoob / hex works in our favor..

Today I have to be a Bills fan because I can not stand the thought of KC in yet another SB. KC obviously had a great record this year but got there the way we did from 2001-2004….Very good defensive play and JUST ENOUGH on offense to get the W…. and in Kansas City’s case, a lot of luck and help from the referees. Their offense has not been a powerhouse… But I have a bad feeling that the bills and Josh Allen will still stumble and choke on the big stage again. I expect Philly to get past Washington, but I don’t have a lot of faith in Hurts in a SB rematch against KC because A) he also tends to come short in huge games and B) He has apparently a pretty nasty knee injury. Anyways, praying that Buffalo can get it done somehow today and the rest of the contestants in the Super Bowl I can deal with.!
