AD on our lack of pass rush

I understand that there is a difference in deflecting and referring but instead of speculating on what HE could do better to help the team win, he dumped it on the coaches to offer explination. I'm not saying the guy needs to go to confession, but IMO that is a lack of personal accountability for the teams uneven play.

Why the hell should AD have personal accountability for something hes not doing?

If hes not rushing the passer, why the hell should he say "I need to rush the passer better"?

Seems like he's blaming the play calling.

"Whatever they call, that’s what we play.’’

Adalius is blaming the play calling, which is fair.

What is unfair is calling Thomas a stiff bad at pass rushing, when he's almost never given the opportunity.

It is similar to how Watson this year isn't given the opportunity in the passing game. It's not his fault he hasn't caught many balls. Just as it would be unfair to call Watson a stiff, the same thing applies to Adalius.

A simple, "I need to do a better job" would suffice.

The greater point is there are many players on this team that are cut from a different mold that are lackidasical in how they approach wins and losses. Period.

Based on what has transpired w/ AD this season, that's how I'm taking it.

You're reaching for a scapegoat. This is the Patriots, and you're now complaining about a player being tight-lipped.

You have to ask somebody that does that study or whatever

I thnk that's a very smart and measured response from a man who could have thrown the team under a bus, and probably would love to do so.

Again, why should he say he needs to do a better job rushing the passer when hes not rushing the passer.

He might as well come out and say "I need to throw less interceptions"

What he is saying is

1) I am being yanked for burgess on 3rd down pass rushing downs.Even though he is crap.

2) I am a 2 down lb who is send to set the edge .

3) Last year seymour had to go off and say he wants to play on 3rd down for the coaches to let him. He led NFL in sacks with 8 for a 3-4 END last year....

4)As soon as i get a SACK i am Yanked the next series for Burgess so he can suck while i sit and watch [NO game]

OK. Again, I don't think I buy this. Does anyone honestly think that all Adalius Thomas needs to become a pass rushing monster is to have the coaching staff let him? Seriously?

Read my post above

last year seymour called the coach out saying he wants to get after QB on 3rd downs and did not want to be pulled...he led NFL is sacks for a 3-4 END .Do you think its coincidence that he plays in 3rd down and he suddenly starts sacking

Also AD gets a sack he get benched in the next play by burgess who plays the entire series ..... who is making the call that you sack the qb you will be benched.

I took the pass-rush part out. My point is when the team loses, he's not exactly accepting his share of the blame. That is my main problem. That is an attitude and accountabilty.

So you are fine with him deferring the answer to the coaching staff and passing the buck?

Seems like he's saying, I just work here, go ask the boss.

Yeah thats the same feeling I get, I think our Defense needs someone who can take control and start blaming themselves for lack of execution. All this pointing out fingers is just plain BS.

As we all know there is no singular scapegoat with this team's troubles of late, Deus. But I interpret it as passing the buck and not accepting that he is part of a whole.

I thnk that's a very smart and measured response from a man who could have thrown the team under a bus, and probably would love to do so.

How is, "go ask someone else" measured? Hes simply passing the buck.

He knows he wont be back with this team next year so he sees no need to share the blame.

1.) He wasn't passing the buck.

2.) I expect that any negative questions will be deflected in this manner by the players on the occasion when they don't give the "we can do better, we can play better, we can coach better" nonsense instead. It's all Patriots speak, and it's all nonsense.

How is, "go ask someone else" measured? Any idiot can do that.

Because I'm sure he'd rather have said something else.

As for the "any idiot", perhaps you could pass that on to Brady and Welker....

I think what they said is poor too. I don't believe is calling out teammates via the press.

AD won't say that because hes generally not put in a position to pass rush. I have no idea why that is , because its his best skill, but hes been moving back at the start of plays a lot more than hes been moving forward.

He's been saying all season that they keep using him for other things, when he should be a pass rusher.

At this point, I agree with him.

Exactly... On 85% of the plays the scheme is to have AD back off into coverage.

Then you've got no call to be complaining about A.D. He didn't call out anyone. He simply passed on a no win question.

What is your impression of Thomas as a teammate? Does he strike you as a Bruschi-type or a Reggie Jackson-type?

I think that is the crux of our disagreement w/r to AD.

I don't evaluate players as teammates, as a general proposition. That would be incredibly stupid of me to do, since I'm not in the locker room. I only go by what I know, via media or contacts. However, if you read around, you'll find reports that neither Bruschi nor Vrabel were universally loved as teammates. If you've got reports of Thomas as a teammate that say he's a poor one, please share them with attribution.

Now, if you want to now about the Red Sox of the mid-80's.....
