Aaron Hernandez Dead

Hard to believe this is where we are five years later

"One of the touching moments since I've known the team -- knowing that this is our charitable gala tonight -- Aaron came into my office, a little teary-eyed and presented me with a check for $50,000 to go to Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund," Kraft said. "I said 'Aaron, you don't have to do this, you've already got your contract.' And he said 'No, it makes me feel good and I want to do it.

Aaron was a fantastic football player. It's a shame he chose the path in life that he did.

OJ was found innocent, was he guilty?

Casey Anthony was found innocent, was she guilty?

They were found "not guilty". Not "innocent". Only babies and children are innocent.

It's impossible to say if they were. In the eyes of the law, they didn't commit those crimes. Do I personally think both of them did it? Sure. But that's why you have to lead with "in my opinion" or "allegedly".

Hate to be that guy but may as well be asked at some point, where's this leave us with the whole cap hit thing?

This guy had such ****ing potential and so much talent, such a shame and a waste. Feel bad for the families and his innocent daughter.

Tragic.

A lot of judging in this thread. Which is not to say that Aaron Hernandez didn't give us lots of things about which we could very reasonably judge him very badly.

But, he's dead now.

I hope his daughter has a chance at a decent life. The hundreds of thousands of dollars that would have gone to lawyers in a futile Appeal of his original conviction can now go to her. I hope he made iron clad arrangements for a responsible Guardian for her and that what is left of his money actually gets to her and not to the hangers-on who characterized so much of his life.

RIP

Quick and certain answers to these situations are always the lazy way out.

My wife runs a non profit that hires young people from urban DC into entry level jobs. She's gotten the starting wage up from $8 an hour to $15, but they still have to live with their parents, or in group houses, in the same or similar neighborhoods they group up in. For them, having a steady job that leads to a career is a journey into a strange land.

If you pay attention, and get to know them, you can almost feel the magnetic forces that are at work on them. Sometimes, one of them gets pulled back into the darkness that bedevils any and all communities in poverty. It is always sad and tragic.

Three weeks ago, one of the long-standing, successful young men, a mentor to many of these young people, and a father of four, was shot and killed in his driveway. He had recently testified about a stabbing he witnessed. My wife and I talk about it every day and it brings tears every time.

WRT Hernandez, throwing labels around like "scumbag" and "lowlife" is so easy to do, just so easy.

He timed this the same day the pats are going to the white house.

Wow. Just so sad the path this young man took. He left behind so much pain and sorrow. God knows what else this man did that was never documented.

Unlike many I do have sympathy for him, sympathy for the decisions he made that ruined his life and many others. His kid will grow up knowing his father was a murderer and a monster.

For everyone effected I hope they find some kind of peace with his passing.

D&C saying he killed Lloyd because he knew Hernandez was gay ...interesting to come out now. In any case may he RIP and hopefully he talked to God and asked for forgiveness. Prayers for his loving family and especially his beautiful daughter.

I'm not sure what the point of this story is.

Also, regarding how "easy" it is, if the shoe fits....

At least the last life he took was his own. GOOD RIDDANCE. I only have sympathy for his daughter who will grow up without her father.

Wait, what? That's the route they're taking?

Rather interesting ... no suicide note.

Yes... gutter talk but I am on the road today so it's all I have ... these guys suck.

Would be pretty crazy if this whole thing is just Hernandez not wanting people to know he's gay. I suppose he'd still do stupid things if not for this anyways.
