A simple theory

Outside recievers just arent a big part of this offense. Never have been and never will be. Amazing how 20 years into this system, people still clamor for outside recievers. If you want a dominant passing offense, put a left tackle and an elite tight end on your wish list.

This isn't true, IMO.

The team has acknowledged that they lack a meaningful perimeter threat for awhile now and have attempted to find players to fill that role.

Watch the way teams like Baltimore defend them - stacked box, no one further than 12 yards down the field, packed middle of the field. Baltimore knows NE makes their hay over the short middle due to personnel limitations and are defending them accordingly. The Patriots also know this and are trying to become more offensively versatile and diverse.

They know they need players who can threaten the sidelines and deeper parts of the field.

Mitchell, LaFell, Gordon, Hogan, Harry, Brown, Thomas, etc.

They haven't all worked, but they're trying to find a guy or two. Fingers crossed on Harry.

Here's my theory on why we bring in top receiver talent and then let them go:

Coach brings in these problematic studs, gets loads of tape on them so our defense will know exactly how to play them once they're on other teams and let's them go on their merry messy ways.

What's a few millions dollars of upfront money compared to another Ring?
So he brings in fat guys who suck just to keep Scar on his toes and sharp.

Wow.....this is bad.

Isn't it crazy that the 2010 Patriots had Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Julian Edleman, Rob Gronkowski, and AH?

I mean, that's not how the roster looked at the end of the season obviously, but... Like.. damn.. That's a Madden team right there lol. Most talented wide receiver in history (notice I didn't say greatest, for Rice lovers), hands down greatest slot receiver of all time, greatest tight end of all time, and a TE that would've been top 5 year in and out if he... Well, you know the story.

I also know this has nothing to do with OP but this thread is kind of useless so I figured I'd toss a random thought I had today.

Ray Lewis killed a guy.

Jim K ?????????

I’d love to see a more complicated theory from the OP. Knock on wood if you’re with me.
