A question on my mind virtually every day [Would BB draft Maye]

This should be a point in a Patriots fan life where we have nothing but love for these former champions. If you don't want to fellate then you don't belong here.
Don't tell me how to be a fan.

Nah I'm good.

I can't agree with much of this.

1. I mean, taking a guy like Garoppolo from a small D-1-AA school is by definition taking a raw QB. The guy has never gone up against competition in his entire life. If you put Drake Maye in D1AA he'd look like he was as seasoned as Marino.
Nah Jimmy's floor was always way higher than Drake's. Compare their scouting reports.
2. Did you really ding Belichick for not being able to tell how the sinews in Garoppolo's muscles would hold up over the longterm?

Nope.
3. He soured on Mac because Mac went outside the building? It had nothing to do with Mac's gutlessness? Crying and screaming and wailing over and injury that lost respect from teammates? The absolute inability to throw an OUT and thereby limiting the offense?
Then he should have known these traits ahead of time and not drafted him.
4. You're basing what Belichick would've done on the drafting of Mac. One instance in 23 years and you're saying that because Mac wasn't raw, that must mean Belichick doesn't like raw QBs.
That's because he doesn't, at least not for his franchise QB to be which is what I said. Didn't even like Josh Allen in his rookie year.
Meanwhile Belichick drafted many tens of QBs through the years, many of them raw. Rohan Davey was named the starter his senior year at LSU, he had relatively little experience, and he certainly was raw and needed development. Belichick drafted him anyway.
There was no chance Davey, Mallett, Cunningham et al were his franchise QB's to be. Drake would be, you don't pick him at 3 if you don't think so.
5. Brady, yes, he needed a lot more development as a first year starter. You're saying Weis was constraining him? I'm not sure that you can loosen the reins on a 1st year QB who threw 18tds and 12ints. It seems to me you want that TD-to-INT ratio to improve before you let him go Brett Favre.
Again, his floor was much higher than Drake's. He was already a very good QB at Michigan. When Weis loosened the reins on him that's when his leaps happened in year 3 and year 4-5. Bill at his age isn't waiting for Drake to develop, he wants a win-right-now polished guy.

Only a complete moron would state a 6th round pick or a D-1-AA has higher floor than the number 3 overall pick.

Talk about reaching a conclusion first and then just spewing absolute trash to try and confirm it.

I don't think you know what "fellate" means. You may want to google that and edit your post. I'm surprised nobody else picked up on it.

A safety from some D III trade school?
Sounds about right. Or another Cole Strange type at 3.

No doubt his cult will keep telling us how awesome that pick was lmao

I knew what he was saying I'm secure enough to embrace that the sentiment is accurate.

Funny that the Bill cult wants to to mooch the credit from Vrabel/Josh and Maye's success so far to make their hoodied hero look good lmao

Maybe instead you oughta worry about your hoodied hero actually making a WGAF Bowl game with his team first before trying to compare him with the big leagues.

You ask the question about his legacy without Brady and Josh, Vrabel, and his kids are the successes that will most define his tree. Casserio and some other personnel guys too but we tend to look more at the coaches then the GMs.

@upstater1 No idea why the mods felt the need to hide your post from me so I took a screen shot while logged out. Great post!

Lol!

He Drafted a small D-1-AA QB in Jimmy

And another QB Cassell who hadn't started since high school.

He replaced a 100 million dollar starter in Drew with a Raw 6th Rd QB.

Seems like you could actually make a very compelling case that he prefers raw QBs that he can coach up.
!!!

The idea that Belichick is against developing QBs seems preposterous given the evidence. I mean, I know Belichick isn't developing them himself, but he's certainly not against his QB Coach or OC doing it.

You are so slanted against Belichick that even mentioned of his past history hear seems to you a swipe at Vrabel. It's bizarre. No one said anything of what you wrote.

Playing Clemson is different than playing Lindenwood. It's this kind of thinking (that you can look polished against Lindenwood) that lead the 49ers into taking another D1AA kid in Trey Lance. He looked very polished against the dregs of 1AA.

As for the rest of it about the other QBs he took, you are literally then only hanging on the Mac Jones example to make broad general assertions about Belichick.

I think we saw the success he had with a QB that the team developed in 2008. He had absolutely nothing against developing QBs, he did not prefer them to be finished products. The 2008 starter didn't even play college football.

My comment wasn't so much directed at you. But I disagree that Bill would be willing to work with a raw QB, that's never been his MO and if he's set in his ways no reason to think he'd pivot now. He would rather have the polished guy every time if he had a choice.
