I'm hoping @Seattle is early in the season, before it get's too cold, rainy and miserable. I'd prefer to be able to go to a game and not have to worry about getting drenched this time!

I'm with you on that. Did you come to the pregame party at Showbox last time? Where Mosi Tatupu (RIP) hung out and Robert and Jonathan Kraft stopped by and spoke to the group.

If not, make sure you join Patriots Tailgate so that you know what we have going on this year.

If you take that nugget with the fact teams usually play their backups in the last week, we very well may see Sanchez starting that game

Fixed it for you......

hoping for a road game at TEN, JAC, SEA or BAL the 2nd or 3rd week in December...would love to escape the Christmas craziness for a few days (did this in Denver last year)

SUN DEC 30 MIA 1:00
I don't think they'll make Miami come here in winter 2 years in a row. I expect the home game against the Dolphins will be earlier than the road game against the Dolphins. Week 16 in Miami sounds entirely plausible before week 17 at home against NYJ.

Well that shoots a gaping hole in my theory about saving big matchups for sometime later in the season rather than in week one.

The big matchups are spread throughout the season in order to maximize ratings. They want a couple big matchups every week, usually the late afternoon CBS/FOX game and then the nighttime NBC game, and then they throw a couple bones to ESPN over the course of the season.

What I'm most curious about is the quality of the Thursday night NFLN games.

@Patriots: One more for you: for the 2nd year in a row, Pats will play 3 of their first 4 games on the road

TERRIBLE!

I actually like that. They're at their most rested at the start of the season. Then as the season wears down and bodies get increasingly tired, they'll have fewer road trips.

Gotta play 8 on the road, may as well get them out of the way.

They won 2 of the 3, and should have won all 3 of those road games in 2011. I also like having them early, lets the team round into shape strongly at the end of the year.

I don't really care that much. I like getting two "shorts" games per year. That's me being a selfish fan. Even last year vs. SD was cold due to the later start. If I'm going to sit through freezing temps in January, I would like a few warm weather games to start the year. Whatever... not a huge deal. I agree with you that it probably benefits the team.

I have never liked that. Many times, how you start the season effects the entire season. It depends, of course, on who the games are against, but at that time of the season, home field is key, IMO. Get the jump on the other teams and force them to catch up.

If the schedule balances out and 3 of the final 4 are at home, that helps make up, a bit, for it. But you never like to have to come from behind.

Pats at Baltimore 9/23 SNF according to channel 5's sports director.

I bet we will play Jets in first two weeks.
