The Residence hall assistant reported it, the victim denies it, the accused denies it, so it seems like it is not going far...

History is filled with women who denied domestic abuse when asked by cops what happened.

That being said, short of the Police having video of the event happening or pictures of bruises on the woman, it's nigh impossible to prove without victim cooperation unless they have multiple witnesses who are willing to attest to the fact in court.
