Like any algorythm, the DVOA will compute based on the assumptions made in preparing the formula. Had different assumptions been made, you would get different results.

Using an artibrary calculation yields arbitrary results.

OTOH, there is nothing assumed, pre-judged, arbitrary or controversial about W's and L's.

Or Win-Loss record vs. common opponents.

who do you think is better? Detroit or Jacksonville? b/c they have the same record

To be honest, I don't think either is that much better than the other. They are both average teams.

Jacksonville is above average. they are no great, but they are better than average teams like the Redskins, Bills, etc.

Detroit is below average. they are an underdog, AT HOME, this week vs the Giants. who is also 6-3!!
