Not made up as much as it sounds like it: NFL fined 49ers RB Frank Gore $10,500 for wearing his socks too low during NFC Championship Game.


Is the Commissioner already softening up the Niners to help his posse mate Ray Lewis next week? That's just insane. That's also a good chunk of the money Gore got for even playing in that game.

I agree they are stupid fines, but they have been around for years. And the players know it is in the CBA. All the leagues have uniform guidelines to follow.

Is there some kind of competitive advantage to having your socks low? Does it make it harder to tackle or something?

I actually noticed this when he scored that TD last week - it looked like he wasn't wearing any socks at all, his lower legs were bare.
