3rd seed is a lot better than 4th this year

or we could just try for the #1 or #2 seed...

The only teams to worry about are Denver and KC. If we only drop 1 or 2 games the rest of the way and beat Denver, we should be able to lock up at least the #2.

HINT: Since the 3 plays the 6-seed and the 4 plays the 5-seed EVERY YEAR; I think you will be able to re-use that theory again.

He is just playing off on the whole Pay-me-a-ton worship society.

But guess what; betwen KC and Den, whichever one is the 5 seed, THEY DIDNT WIN THEIR DIV; that means they are BEATABLE. And they will ABSOLUTELY BE ON THE ROAD.

I would be more worried about figuring out a way of beating the one that actually wins the div and ends up the 1-seed. You will have to play that one in their house. Pick your poison HI-altitude or 2d best Home-Field Adv (loudest crowd) in the NFL.

Peyton on the road in the playoffs? I'll take that

if they finish 1-3 then they are fine...4th will deff be tougher

I'd love to have a visit from KC (no chance they win the division)

It's rare (although hardly unprecedented) for the two best records in a conference to be in the same division, even at this point of the season. That said, perhaps Peter King and definitely I overlooked the point that their records are a bit inflated by not having played each other yet.

Or in KC's case... anyone yet.

i don't know, a 3 seed gets a date with the Jets (most likely) and 4 seed gets a visit from Den/KC. I think I may take the 2 seed this year.

in round 1??

Well if we go 7-0, we could be I contention for #1. So many possibilities for where this team in the playoffs, we won't know for a few more weeks where we most likely be.

I would be pleased with #2.

I disagree. The NFL is all about match ups. Seeding doesn't matter if you play against a team that will expose your weaknesses. If you have to pick either Den or KC, I would choose Den. KC has the better D-Line and leads the lead in sacks. This is TB's kryptonite. On the other hand, Denver's D is not that great. Yes, Peyton is awesome, but I think we have a better shot to score points against Denver.

I have no idea why people are afraid of seedings and match ups. The Patriots are good enough to beat 31 teams almost every time they play.

Ah! You can't talk about seedings! It's too early!

/sarcasm

If they get a bye I'll be happy. Not worried about the other stuff. You never know what could happen. What if Denver is the #1 seed and Peyton gets injured in week 17? Whoever has to go and face them would feel a lot better about their chances.

@SD, KC, @NE, @KC - Denver could very easily wind up 9-3 or 8-4 going into week 14.

If we can go through this second half of the season with only 1 loss (to anyone but Denver)

I believe we can get 1st place

General question; would you rather lose to the Broncos and get the 2 seed, or lose to the Ravens and get the 1 seed, but the Ravens are in the playoffs?

lose to the Ravens

I think if we get the 1 seed we'll win our games @ home and go to the SuperBowl and win it in the Jets AND Giants very own stadium

Kind of early to say the Jets. SD, Ten, Cleveland etc are all in the mix.

Not meaning to sound as sarcastic as it will sound, but "you THINK you'd take the 2 seed this year?"

Of course you'd take the #2 seed...every year.

Who could make a reasonable argument that they'd rather play 3 games vs 2 to get to the Super Bowl, which would include going on the road to boot?

The 2 seed means that we'd get to win ONE game at home to be in the AFCCG....I think it's kind of a no-brainer, especially with this year's specific 2013 team. They would probably need to get a first round bye to have a realistic shot in my opinion. They are very young, beat up, missing many key guys etc. Let's not let one game vs the 2-6 Steelers get our heads big.

There is absolutely no reasonable explanation for wanting to play an extra playoff game, which dramatically reduces one's chances for making the Super Bowl; yet every single year we have to go through this for whatever reasoning?

You want to have a bye week to allow key players to rest and build a very good gameplan + practicing, then have a home game to make the AFCCG. It's that simple.

I agree. I guess the thinking is that the NYJ schedule is rather easy down the stretch, but it's waaayyy too early to consider anyone a lock after 9/17 games.

CLE - Brandon Weeden starting is a much different team. Hoyer and Campbell have led them to every win this season, and the defense is tough. I wouldn't count them out at 4-5 vs the NYJ 5-4 by any stretch.

SD - has a chance to beat DEN at least once in the 2 meetings, and could very well get the 6th slot. Actually they'd probably be my personal choice.

TEN - is playing tough defense and has proven to be a pain in the butt, especially at home. They've also started to get CJ running lately, along with Kendall Wright in the passing game. They got off to a hot start but had some setbacks for a few weeks when their starting QB went out.
