30th anniversary of drafting Bledsoe

He made watching football fun. From the day he fell short in that shootout vs Marino to the Minnesota comeback. A lot of exciting Sundays watching him on the field. It was always edge of your seat football with a lot of highs and lows. It was before some of the fan base got spoiled rotten and complacent thinking every year was the entitled superbowl.

Brady is the greatest but Bledsoe also has his own special place in Pats history for a lot of us.

I liked a lot of QB's in the 90's as that was my favorite era of football, but Bledsoe was my favorite QB. He had a cannon and could effortlessly flick the football 50+ yards downfield. My favorite memory was in back to back weeks in 1998 with Drew throwing TWO consecutive game winning TD's against Miami and Buffalo. Drew did everything he could with that broken finger that season. It was tough to move on and give that random guy named Tom Brady a chance back in 2001.

Those were good times man....and especially the first down we didn't exactly have vs. Buffalo....Doug Flutie was livid about that, LOL.

Zolak had a great game against the Niners with Bledsoe out...but then Brunell hit Jimmy Smith deep over Ty Law on a ball that was aided by the wind.....

Parcells/Bledsoe/Kraft started it all....in order, IMO. Parcells should be in the HOF though....no Parcells...no Belichick...and if Kraft let Parcells shop for groceries...maybe we never are in position to draft Brady in 2000.....

I was there for both. Some of those Pete-Bledsoe games were really exciting. Say what you will about Drew, but he had a cannon arm and was a tough dude.

People don't remember the toughness...remember that game against the Bucs to start the 2000 season? Man, Bledsoe was plummeted that game.... and of course the Mo Lewis hit...he still played a series after that....

Also throwing passes with a pin sticking out of his broken finger.

If there were never a Brady we'd still be talking about 96 (?) was our best shot evah and how Drew could have been our Brett Favre and got us a ring, it just wasn't meant to be.

God you remember those days, when a SB was the best you could hope for? Hopefully we're not back there for good.

Drew Bledsoe was a positive contributor.
He never made waves when he lost his job and he still on good terms with the company.
Genuine good guy.
