2027 Draft: Interior Offensive Line

Good OL discussion (mixes OT + IOL):

Cayden Green, Carter Smith, Austin Siereveld and Anthonie Knapp all project inside at the next level, IMO.

No Austin Siereveld, Kade Pieper, Charles Jagusah, Brandon Baker or Ezomo Oratokhai.

Jacob Infante's top 10 guards, for comparison:

I like Infante's list better.

His top 6, along with Kade Pieper (probably considered a center), Charles Jagusah, and Mo Oratokhai, are the top IOL prospects of interest for me. I would also include Jacarrius Peak and PJ Williams as tackle/guard options. That's 11 potential guys. Jagusah needs to get on the field to be considered, Oratokhai is a RS Sophomore (but reportedly is 24).

It is a brave man that would draft a prospect whose last name starts with JAG.

Some thoughts, looking at the current Consensus Big Board pre-season interior OL ratings:

23. Cayden Green, Missouri*
28. Austin Siereveld. Ohio St.*
35. Kade Pieper, Iowa
37. Carter Smith, Indiana*
55. Jacarrius Peak, S. Carolina*
66. Greg Johnson, Minnesota
69. Anthonie Knapp, Notre Dame*
76. Iapani Laloulu, aoregon
79. PJ Williams, SMU*
97. Evan Tengesdahl, Cincinnati
102. Charles Jagusah, Notre Dame
110. Brandon Baker, Texas
123. Ezomo Oratokhai, Northwestern
158. Luke Montgomery, Ohio St.
278. Drew Bobo, Georgia
305. Justin Evans, Nebraska

* Currently plays OT

My Thoughts:

IOL and TE are the 2 offensive positions that I would be ok investing in before day 3, if the value is there. Completing the OL buildout should be a priority. That said, I would probably prefer to address both in FA if the opportunity arises, and devote 2027 to infusing the defense with young talent.

Jacarrius Peak, Ezomo Oratokhai and PJ Williams are my top 3 right now based on their athleticism. Oratokhai is a RS Sophomore but reportedly is 24. Peak s coming off a knee injury. Kade Pieper is incredibly athletic. Charles Jagusah is in a class by himself - maybe the most upside, but a complete enigma.

Austin Siereveld, Carter Smith, Cayden Green, Brandon Baker and Anthonie Knapp are all T -> G conversions. All should be very good. I'm not sure any is a clear 1st round talent, but testing may help differentiate them. Greg Johnson is a highly versatile option as well.

Austin Siereveld out of Ohio State is a player I find myself extremely high on in the preseason. He had to play left tackle for the Buckeyes last season based on roster need, but when you evaluate him, he is a guard at the NFL level all day. It appears he is moving inside for Ohio State in 2026.

Siereveld plays with a great balance of patience and nastiness, which is a hard balance to create. He has good, nuanced hands and is a disciplined blocker, but he wants to put guys on the ground. His combination of physicality, solid movement skills, and a nasty demeanor gives him a high floor as a starting guard at the next level. His experience at left tackle, although that won’t be where he plays in the NFL, does add an interesting baseline to potentially help a team get out of a game if the need arises. He’d be a borderline top-32 player for me heading into the season.

Siereveld, Caden Green and Carter Smith are all top'50 picks as OOLs for me.

That said, Jacarrius Peak, PJ Williams, Mo Oratokhai and Charles Jagusah may have even higher ceilings.[/u]

I don't think it's quite as simple as "player X's tape is better than player Y's, therefore he should go in the same range".
