DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION 2026 NFL Draft Day 3

I want the Pats to move up in the 5th round and draft Charles Demmings, CB
Then draft a QB in the 6th (T. Green or H. King)
Then draft a LB in the 6th (Keyshaun Elliot or Jack Kelly)
Then draft a RB in the 7th (Kaytron Allen)

I think that talk was mainly in the context of Boutte being needed as a piece in the deal for Brown, rather than an open market for Boutte.

At least I didn't see any rumor that the Pats were taking calls on him.
There was some suggestion they were looking for a day three pick for him. I presume an early day 3 pick. However, nothing from Schefter or Rapoport. Maybe they'll report something as day 3 starts.

Rutgers QB Athan Kaliakmanis is a QB name to keep an eye on. We got late notification of a meeting with him and he played in quite a vertical offense with two big bodied outside receivers, not too dissimilar to our own offensive style. He also grades as one of the more successful downfield passers in the draft. Second only to Joey Aguilar on passes of 20+ yards.

I pray this is totally wrong and just the media stirring up trash, but we do have a log jam. Brown, Doubs, Boutte, Hollins, Williams with Chis and Pop looking in. I think Chis will earn the slot. Pop is gone. Can we carry 6 WR, 3 TE, 1 FB, 3-4 RB? Boutte is the odd man out because he is in a contract year and Williams is the investment. I love Boutte, but cant see how it works with him.

I'd swap him for a 4th. Better yet, a 2027 pick.

Today will be a good challenge of how good our draft team is. So many good players, so little capital.

Get me as many as possible of the following:

[Jermod McCoy, CB]
Keionte Scott, CB/Nickel
Kyle Louis, LB/S
Mike Washington, RB
Devin Moore, CB
Zakee Wheatley, S
VJ Payne, S
Kaleb Proctor, IDL
Kaleb Elarms-Orr, LB
‐---‐-‐---------------'
Ephesians Prysock, CB
CJ Demmings, CB
Eli Heidenreich, RB/WR
Cyrus Allen, WR
Adam Randall, RB
Jordan van den Berg, IDL
Rene Konga, IDL
Micah Morris, IOL
Kaleb Prunty, CB

Honorable mention:

Jimmy Rolder, LB
Jack Kelly, LB
Justin Jefferson, LB
Jeff Caldwell, WR

I would settle for trading up using 171, 198 and 212 and getting 2 impact players, e.g., Kyle Louis or Kaleb Elarms-Orr + 1 of Jermod McCoy, Devin Moore, Zakee Wheatley or VJ Payne. Then use 247 and UDFAs on whoever is left.

A 6 player draft like this would work for me:

28. Caleb Lomu, OT
55. Gabe Jacas, EDGE
95. Eli Raridon, TE
4a. Kyle Louis
4b. Jermod McCoy/Devin Moore/VJ Payne
247. Jordan Van den Berg or Micah Morris

If I had the time I would be looking at RAS Scores, as athleticism is a focus with many of their picks.
Yup.

The other thing they seem to be valuing is younger players.

  • Lomu is the 3rd-youngest OT in the draft.
  • Jacus is the 12th-youngest Edge rusher in the draft.
  • Raridon is the 5th-youngest TE in the draft.

Youth. Atleticism. Versatility.

Find players who fit that mold, and you'll find someone high up on the Patriots' board.

As far as Boutte goes, there are no WR's left that are close to what Boutte is. I think teams will come calling with 4th round offers.
But the Pats need to be 100% sure AJ Brown is in the bag.

Jermod McCoy is 20
Kyle Louis is 22
Devin Moore is 22
VJ Payne is 22
Kaleb Elarms-Orr is 22
Mike Washington is 22

All with standout athleticism.

Payne can play S and S.
Louis can play LB and S.

Youth. Athleticism. Versatility.

I dont pay enough attention to board sentiment but is Chism your guy? Because Douglas is explosive and Chism is slow. In comparing these two, Id keep Pop 100% of the time.
