It's such a Deep class: I now feel like we could get Two decent guys in the Third and Fourth. I like also Bryce Lance and Josh Cameron. Can't sleep on Jeff Caldwell - J Michael Sturdivant - CJ Daniels and Ja'Kobi Lane. Quite a few are going to drop glad we have all those Sixths.

I like Allen in the 5th or 6th as our late slot guy.
Would like a bigger X earlier if we don’t trade for Brown.
I’m not high on Fields tho, he doesn’t get open and that scares me.

He ran a 1.48 10-yd split at the Combine. That is fastly quick by any measure whether he was 5'8" or 6'5".

It has been my understanding since I started following Pro-Days and such 25 years ago that the 40, 20 yard split and 10 yard split refer to a player's straight line Speed.

It has been my understanding that the Agility drills of 20yard shuttle/Short Shuttle and 3-Cone refer to Quickness.

So, when someone such as yourself makes a statement like "fastly quick" or refering to a 40 speed as "quick", it is confusing.

He had his moment in the sun at the Senior bowl, but those aren't great numbers for Tyren Montgomery.

That post claiming that he "excelled" made me think I was going to see a 3Cone under 7 and a short shuttle under 4.15.. Those numbers are mediocre..

I have not watched any of him, but on this clip his releases look slow and I don't think that will play very well vs press

My thoughts exactly.
From what I have seen of Fields (which is admittedly limited), he looks slow and doesn’t separate.
It’s great he can make contested catches, but that is not something one can can solely rely on in the NFL.

Before the Senior Bowl.

After the Senior Bowl, when he was getting 1st round hype.

After the Combine, when he dropped off.

Still 4th round.

Solid player - huge catch radius, good with contested catches.

Lacks separation - both long speed and slow out of breaks.

Way over-hyped as a day 1 or 2 guy. Not a bad day 3 option, I personally prefer others.

Said one scout: “Nobody knew about him until he got to the Senior Bowl. He’s probably the fastest riser. He’s unpolished but he’s super explosive and competitive. It’s hard to jam him off the line. He’s got a big (catching) radius and he can run. He’s going to get a lot better. He’s more than just a developmental guy. He’s better than a fourth-rounder.”

“He was my favorite guy,” one scout said. “Good size and speed. Very smooth and polished and aware in his route running and separation. He’s coming from a program that hasn’t thrown it a lot. It did start throwing it the last few years so he’s developed in that system. I think he makes it look easy to get open and catch the ball. These kind of guys wind up being starters and No. 2’s, or at least No. 3’s.”

“Love him,” a second scout said. “Can track the ball. Combat catcher. Really good down the sideline. Catches down the middle. He can catch.”

Ted Hurst has 12 confirmed visits. He's getting quite a bit of buzz right now. A second rounder for sure but I wonder if he sneaks into the first.

I remember some saying they wouldn't take him in the First 31st to be exact.
