2026 Draft: EDGE

More on Cashius Howell.

1. Those three consecutive sacks has never happened before in CFB according to Grok.

2. In week one, he had 5 hurries in the game.

3. In 2024 his pass rush win percentage was top 90th percentile at 19.9%. On a par with Mike Green (20.2) and ahead of Ezeiruaku (17.9).

We have a ****ty kicker.

Boutte Big Time.

Boutte is Diggs Jr that's his ceiling.

Stupid stretch play.

Wrong thread PF2.

A cut up of all Ruben Bain's snaps against Notre Dame. I came away with two negatives. I'd like him to be longer and more athletic. Still, his hand usage is terrific.

That sounds about right. Lot to like, though.

Reminds me of a bigger more athletic Deatrich Wise Jr.

From BGC, 4 1/2 months ago in the Watch List thread:

"Matayo Uiagalelelei is legit, hes in my "possible 1st round" tier. Keldric Faulk, Parker and Bain all have top 10 potential. Bain will be everyone's favorite. Such a dog. IDL has 2-3 1st RD guys too. Banks and Woods are legit."

Concise.

David Bailey, Texas Tech (formerly Stanford), 6-3, 240-250.

I don't know how to rank David Bailey because he's a pure pass rusher and likely won't give you every down reps. however, he also might be the best pass rusher in this draft. Consider:

46.5% pass rush win rate on true pass sets.

Has continued this season as he left of last. Already leads the draftable pass rushers this season with 10 pressures and a 34.8% win rate.

95th percentile get off at the snap.

Forced 5 fumbles last year in limited snaps.

As James Foster says of him: "when you watch him as a pass rusher, he doesn't really lose one-on-one reps.

However!

He doesn't do run defense. Even this season, his snaps have been limited.

Nik Bonitto of the Broncos seems to be the comp for Bailey. Similarly sized, Bonitto has just signed a 25m per year 2nd contract after racking up 24 sacks in three season, including a double digit ack season in his year 3.

I think he's a 2nd round worthy pick so long as you are happy to acknowledge you're getting a situational player with immense upside.

Vincent Anthony Jr, Duke, 6-6, 260lbs

Just look at this guy and tell me he doesn't look like the archetypal DE/OLB? And looking at those arms, I'm thinking 34-35".

He had a 3 sack game against Illinois at the weekend and although he hasn't been super productive to date - he had 6 sacks and 36 pressures last season - I just think he really looks the part. He's had at least one sack in both games so far this year. Just a name to carry in the back of your mind.

Don't look now but only two games in, Ruben Bain is the highest graded defensive player in CFB that's likely to be drafted.

Defense Grade - 93.7
Run Defense - 91.2
Tackling - 80.4
Pass Rush - 90.4

Someone that was on my radar that I noticed last year is Clev Lubin. He was at coastal Carolina last year and Louisville this year. I have not watched him this year, I was looking at my notes of players that I saw traits I like. ESPN has him at 6-3 250

4 sacks and 5 pressures in two games so far this season. Also had 10 sacks and 46 pressures last year. Decent size too at 6-3, 250. Interesting find that is certainly worth keeping an eye on. Although he's draft eligible, he's only played one full season to date so he might decide to stay in college and grab some more transfer portal money before coming out next year.

If they can't, that's a big bump to EDGE as a first round need next year.
