So long as Mac can have guys open on these one-receiver, half-field read routes, he can be effective enough. Every time they put more on his plate he really struggles. I'm still trying to get a read on Penix, really. Ideally Atlanta would probably want to do the same, but he really wants to get out of the pocket for some reason. He's 6'3", seeing over the linemen shouldn't be much of a problem.
And neither have been really accurate to this point.
More and more, I wonder about the quality of coaching these qb draftees get, and the level of patience teams are willing to have with them. I haven;' seen Penix enough to have a valid opinion about him, but who knows what he, and any number of other young qb's, might be if they got decent coaching, a ddcent supporting cast, and two or three years to figure it all out?

Which really, in a backup, is fine, honestly.
But you can't have a weak arm AND be limited in where you go with the ball AND be kind of inaccurate AND not protect the ball. That keeps you off the field.
Penix's arm is really only marginally better. I could have sworn it was better than he's been showing the last few weeks.
