These things are not linear. See Houston in 2023 vs 2024 with Stroud. And Washington in 2024 vs 2025 with Daniels.

It's more probable than not that they are good going forward. But nothing is guaranteed.
Or 2002 Patriots.

Win the Super Bowl, then miss the playoffs.

That was a great game. I was worried going into it and the D, as usual, gave up 7 on the first drive. I hope this keeps working for them.

Henderson 2nd TD run, with him asking permission first, was awesome and a bit funny with Maye yelling at him to go down. Should he have gone down? Maybe... but I was OK either way.

Let's go drub the Jets Thursday.

I also learned something in this game. I guess it's legal to launch yourself into the ball carrier's helmet with your own helmet as long as he's in bounds when you do it. After all, Gene Steratore said it's true. I think it's a special rule too. It's only legal if the ball carrier is named Drake Maye.

I don't understand why Hollins' catch was marked two yards back from where he caught it and really don't understand why Vrabel didn't challenge it. That was clearly caught beyond the first down line. Why Romo was going on and on about where his knee went down was a head-scratcher. Has he never heard of forward progress?
He wasn't touched and kind of took himself backwards. So he wasn't knocked back. Kind of what happens when you're stopped on a run but you're knocked back and then detach from the defender. If you're not touched, you dont get forward progress.

I feel both Henry and hooper can be replaced. Get Otton and draft a TE in 3rd round or 4th round if it's a deep draft .

Once we get brock lampe and the other injured RB from IR next year it's gonna be a fun unit. I don't think Henry is worth 15 million dollars next year. He might be a cap cut or restructure. Boutte and henderson development and growth is huge and hollins will be safety valve.

Henry is a favorite of Mayes when he needs a big play, he needs to stick around.

Just got done reading the game day thread. ****ing hilarious. I especially liked the posters who **** all over Drake Maye for sucking so bad. Some really bright fans in there. For some reason they don't seem to realize that there is a team playing against the Patriots. They want and expect easy street every minute of every game, anything less means the Patriots players and coaches suck. Some posters quit on them faster than Navy Seal candidates during Hell Week.

Hey Ian, can you install a bell so fans can officially quit on the team during the game?
I remember how bad those got during the dynasty years. We’d be up 14-3 and people would still complain

Do you have a top 10 list?

Sam's top 10 list is
Jonathan Taylor
Josh Simmons

People back then probably chalked up the SB win to a fluke that would not be repeated. As it turned out, 2002 was the fluke. Then the dynasty really took off.

But "playing with house money" is good until there a huge expectations. And regardless of how the year finishes, fans will want huge signings/great draft picks with possible SB aspirations next season.

In all honesty I really do understand the frustration of the GDT fans. I play golf, and like them I shoot 62 or better every time out. I played over 60 rounds this year and didn't hit one bad shot, and I made every putt, no matter how long it was. If only the Patriots players could demonstrate the perfect focus and performance I put out every time they would be so much better. We are fortunate, most teams don't have fans like us, if they did they wouldn't ever make a mistake either.

Im a huge Maye fan, and I am not judging anything he did earlier in the game in a negative light.

BUT when you're up 21-16 in the final minutes and you're in FG position, you cannot throw an INT. Eat it. A FG there means not only are you up by a TD but the Bucs must convert a 2-pointer in order to tie it.

So that one bad decision is a huge error that could have cost them the game.
He took a big helmet to helmet collision running out of bounds a play or two before that. He looked a little off after that. I thought he was going to be sent to the blue tent.

He wasn’t making that decision while entering keystrokes on his phone from his sofa and he likely wasn’t firing on all cylinders.

Was it a bad mistake- sure. Tom Brady took an intentional grounding penalty in the end zone in a Super Bowl

Thats the weird thing about pointing out all the flaws in some worrisome manner. Do they have some flaws? Sure, but what team out there doesn’t.

So far this team doesn’t really have a FATAL flaw that i can see. Might have been lack of a run game outside of maye but thats kinda gone away the last 4 games

Otton is a Guy I am looking for, and that was before today.
I was watching every TB Game I could because of TFB, and he stood out to the point that I grabbed him in FF.
After seeing him blocking today, I am convinced.
He's a player.

He will be 31 next year and 11 million for non blocking TE . I doubt it. If we get cade Otton for 11 million I feel Henry will be cap casualty unless Henry resigns for say 6-8 million a year . Since his dead cap is 2.5 million Henry might get restructured. Doubt anyone would pay Henry more than 5 million a year.

Hes in his 4th year so if tb doesn’t resign him he’ll be a fa next year

I was thinking (screaming at the tv) the exact same thing.

Is Hollins worth every penny?

Yup

One thing about that play, what a throw by Maye ! Holy schnickes. But yeah, Hollins has surpassed anything I thought we’d get from him. Receptions, TDs, clutch catches, blocking, leadership, just Fantastic. In 10 games for the Pats, he’s almost matched what he did in 17 games for the Bills.

Pretty sure the Twins hated him.
I might be thinking incorrectly.

On Williams TD, when he caught it and turned upfield it was like he was shot out of a cannon.
For you old timers, he reminded me of Stanley Morgan running away from those defenders, put #86 on him. He ran a 4.40 at the combine, and he was mad about it. I bet he runs faster than 4.40. Stanley Morgan was a legit 4.35.

Was at a college softball camp all day with my oldest daughter today so I barely saw the game. But I had the displeasure of listening to high pitch Eric (bob socci) and crackhead bob (Zolak) do the game on the radio on the drive home. They are awful and I can't imagine another team has a worse combo.
Also, 98.5 mics pick up so much crowd noise you can barely hear the play by play. Play after play, socci didn't say the down and distance, whether a third down play got enough yards. It was absolutely painful.
