San Francisco gets their annual comp picks.

There was someone in the local media that hinted SF was strategically positioned colored coaches to get poached so the team can collect their compensatory picks.

That’s an even dumber rule then the Rooney rule.

We shouldn't be getting comp picks for a while (from players at least). That means we'd have to both let a player good enough that someone paid them a lot of money go while also not signing anyone else for a lot of money. We suck too much for that to make sense.

Right — before last year we virtually resigned everyone anyhow. This year, we might lose Wise and Jonathan Jones but we’ve signed so many more free agents — and at higher prices — because we have the cap space and our team stinks. So we won’t get any comp picks for the 2026 draft either. We won’t see them again until other teams see our free agents as desirable and we’re up against the cap so can’t resign them ourselves.

Here's the chart from OverTheCap.com . [They don't know the contracts marked "TBA," so they may or may not qualify.]

No matter how dumb you might think this rule is, the original resolution was even dumber, as it would've given draft picks to the teams that hire minority HCs.

NFL made a oopsie.
Now corrected
The Dolphins were wrongly awarded a seventh-round compensatory pick that should have gone to the Saints. Under the corrected order, the Browns and Chargers will also see their seventh-round compensatory picks moved down by one selection.
