2025 Draft: WRs

What would you like me to clarify Capt

If you're referring to Hunter, I hear & read more of him as a CB than as a WR; and that his WR snaps will be limited due to his being too busy learning how to play NFL CB to have the time needed to learn a Josh McD offense... For certain packages/matchups? Yeah probably, depending on how many snaps he's had at his first, better position during the game... A CB moonlighting as a WR, especially when taking how much Carlton Davis got Paid into account, just isn't worth #4 overall to me.

At the combine he said that he wants to play both positions, but took meeting with team as DB and others as WR. The Pats would have to have the conversation with him about being a full time WR, I see that as the only way they draft him. He seems dead set on playing both sides, it just feels like there will lbe potential conflict.

My preference is not draft Hunter at 4, but if they do and he dedicates fully to it he will be good, he is really raw at WR right now. If he really digs his heels about playing both then they should pass, like you said a Part timer at WR is not what we need.

I watched some Burden tape and was very impressed. He has a second gear when on the move and can our outrun DBs on the fly. He is a big guy who can turn and burn. He may be a dink and a prima donna (I am only guessing here), but he can play. Is he another headache like Pickens or would he mature in the pros?

But would rather do this

OK that didn't get accepted technically lol but this did

Oh, I like this. A Ricki Williams style trade, but we would be on the good side of the deal. I would do this in a second for Carter, but not for Hunter--I want Hunter on the Patriots--can you imagine a lineup of Hunter, Pop Douglas, and Diggs? That would keep defensive coordinators up at night, but not if there is no line to protect Drake, so the Patriots also have to pick carefully in the later rounds, unlike last year

Some film breakdown from the 33rd team. Manx is there room on the band wagon? He and Diggs would be insane on the filed together because they are both excellent route runners.

If this was already posted, I apologize

There is plenty of space aboard. All are welcome.

I will only comment on the on field stuff. Because of his ****ty QB and the way Mizzou used him, I have no idea if he can run routes (I feel that way about a few others as well). He is very athletic and seems to have above average hands. He is a great YAC guy, but many off his touches are schemed up. His route tree is very limited, he does not have the nuances of most NFL WRs (route sales, attacking leverage of DBs and. He reminds me of a souped-up Malachai Corley.

I don't see a 1st round guy based on field, and off the field I heard he is a pain in the ass along with his mother. If it were me I would not take him before 3rd round. I imagine that he might become a good WR but I think it will take the right situation and a patient coach.

Did you watch his '23 tape, at the going into '24 he was considered the best WR prospect.

I see a guy that's still very raw but the talent is clearly there. He could be Deebo but he could also be NKeal.

Was just listening to reception perception with Matt Harmon. I love his breakdowns of WR's. I don't think he's necessarily connected with NFL guys but he just charts what he sees on film and gives his opinion. So his opinion on the WR situation may not be coming from any type of inside info. Just an observation.

But basically, the addition of Hollins and Diggs, to go with Douglas, gives the Patriots more of a traditional set of 3 starting WR's. The players fitting specific roles will be good for the development for Maye, even if they aren't long term answers. He said its possible the Patriots just roll with that trio and the young guys(Boutte, Baker, Polk) to see exactly what they have.

It'd be interesting if they didnt go WR in the 1st 3 rounds, but its possible they don't. If we go Carter and move up for an LT, it wouldn't be surprising.

Part of me does think they want to give Baker and Polk another shot. At the same time, they've shown enough interest in WRs that adding a couple wouldn't surprise me. If they do add two, I suspect one of those two would be with the first pick.

I think they will give Baker and Polk a shot by allowing them to compete with vets and rooks brought in. They will all compete and the best 5-7 will make it. I know alot of people say that a 2nd round pick should be given time, but you earn that time in TC and preseason.

On a side note, I am super sad about Bentley. I think they cut him this early so he could catch on elsewhere.

I am sad about Bentley because it’s pretty much the end of an era. Still, Vrabel has his team, and more importantly his culture now so no excuses.

Pre-season will be an interesting battle at the WR spot.

I am watching the Diggs interview; I find the dude to be pretty inspiring. He mention that not everyone is motivated the same and he said that even if things are not going well for him he likes to pick up others. I paraphrased because I could not remember verbatim.
