That's a good matchup to get things started can't wait

Not an easy start to the season for the defending champs - unlike college football.

The schedule makers continue to miss the assignment. This has been going on for many years and a big reason why primetime games during the most important stretch of the season are so bad.

The issue is the NFL has 5 masters who all want to be pleased. NBC primetime games are good because they have flex scheduling starting very early in the season. ESPN has and Amazon have much more limited flex* so they are likely to be stuck with what gets assigned to them. There are only so many good matchups to be had, and Fox/CBS sure don't like giving them up from the Sunday rotation. Now add Netflix into the mix. They are paying mid 8 figures for one single game, they sure ain't going to want Carolina-Arizona.

*MNF actually got its first flex last season, but they do not have the weekly advantage like SNF does.

Everyone is watching this game regardless who the opponent was. We've been waiting all off-season for some action. They could easily have saved this one for a different prime time slot.

That's the problem with getting so many networks involved. The overall product is a shell of it's self and seems to get worse each year, especially with the added regular season game and additional playoff game.

It was boneheaded during the Pats dynasties when they'd open against the Colts/Steelers/Ravens or they'd play them way too early in the season which also wasn't a primetime game.

Tom Brady will begin his (regular season) broadcasting career on Sunday, September 8 calling Dallas at Cleveland at 4:25.

The helmets are on the wrong side.

The wrong side of what? Trust me, the graphic is from a legit source.
The away team is always on the left side and the home team is on the right side. The graphics people ****ed up.

The overall product is the same. What is happening is more and more games are being broadcast, and more and more games are being broadcast in a slot where that game is the only one being played. As such, people who watch all these extra games are going to get more duds in there. As I mentioned above, there are only so many marquee matchups and you have 5 networks fighting for each and every one.

That is a general rule, but hardly "always" the case. It is a Browns graphic, so they probably put their own team first no matter where the various games are played.
