It's really almost impossible to know how much Scar was helped by Brady moving around the pocket. We do know the OL all did their jobs and did them well, but Brady commanded the pocket.

Someone posted an old Brady game over 10+ years ago yesterday, and you could see the OL was really doing no better than the OL of the past several years, but they knew not to let immediate pressure up the middle, and they gave away the flanks because Brady always stepped into the pocket.

I would take a QB who can move in the pocket like Zappe and throw with accuracy like, for instance, Jalen Hurts and could read the defense like Cousins.
Me...me me?? Patrick Mahomes.

The success of any QB in the NFL boils down to making the short and intermediate throws. Caleb Williams and Bo Nix are the only two I see doing that right now. Penix as well but his WRs are incredible.

Can Maye and Daniels learn like Josh Allen did? That’s the biggest question if you’re taking either of them. It’s a hard to skill to pick up. It’s much easier to scan the sparse part of a deep field than it is a congested part of the field often littered with the smartest defenders.

Daniels is the only one I've spent any time on at this point as he is the one most likely to be there....that could change alot after the combine, I'm probably not going to watch any more QB film till after then.

I think we are in for a couple of years of sucking no matter who we pick, so I just base my preferences around that. I don't really believe in the QBs (at this point) so I'd rather use the rebuilding capital on players I can believe in.

You suggested I was afraid in an earlier post, the one thing I am afraid of is the team trying to put bandaids on this team to try and fast track a rebuild which will probably lead to first round playoff losses at best, and without the quality picks to really put talent on the team.

I said you were afraid because the logic you were using was that they could fail, and the same can be said of any player. In a later post you came back and listed several reasons you don’t like Daniels as a pick, which was making the argument that I said had been completely lacking by a number of people in numerous posts. Whether I agree or not I’ll give credit to those making a substantive argument, but I tend to get snarky when I see people just blowing it off and pretending no argument is in fact an argument.

I clearly disagree on Daniels, and I think that it’s the offense that needs to be rebuilt, andxQB is the most important part of that. I’m all for fixing OL and WR, but getting the long term answer at QB is the most important part of that. If they fix all and WR in the draft but then try to patch QB together with other teams garbage cast offs then they will just suck for years to come, imo, and I have no interest in that. I’m sure many here will be into it if they bring in Russell Wilson or Kirk Cousins, but I won’t have any interest in it. So, as I said, it’s QB at 3 or bust for me. If they don’t care enough to fix the most important position then I don’t see myself caring about them until they do.

People really underestimate how far a team with an elite OL and DL can go. Look at the Jets in 2009 and 2010 with Sanchez. The Eagles recently, the Browns, Texans before injuries and that really helped Stroud. Certainly the 49ers are an example unless Purdy really is the guy. It’s far less risky to build solid lines and either become a destination or be patient.

Interesting they specify a 1st rd QB ...that means someone has been drafted that has had those kinda numbers....wonder who?

I don’t care about his age because of how long they play
Imo the age thing has nothing to do with how long they will play but is relevant to how much improvement they have in them. Daniels is 2 years older than Maye so he has had 2 years more coaching, experience, physical development etc.

It's not too big a stretch to say that Maye "theoretically" should improve a lot more than Daniels which is one of the reasons i'm much more keen on Maye as imo his upside is a lot bigger.

I’m fine with any of the 3, I just want a franchise QB to build around.

With the hiring of Alex Van Pelt at OC and the rumored targeting of ****erson as OL coach, chances are they’re going to a West Coast scheme.

I don’t disagree on being strong in the trenches at all. If you can’t win the fistfight you can’t execute, but QB is still the most important position on the field, and you need a really good one if you want to win Lombardi’s,

What I love about Daniels is just how explosive he is, and how much fun it would be to watch him. I certainly think he will need good coaching, and to continue to develop , but it would be great as a Patriots fan to have a QB that can torch defenses with his legs. But I would be fine with Maye as well, as he’s really young and talented, and although he will need to improve in the NFL he certainly has the tools to become a franchise QB. Regardless of which QB they take it’s going to be a massive upgrade over the past 4 seasons.
