100% agree - Cousins would be great here, and could win immediately with a re-loaded offense.
I just don't think he'd consider coming here now.

We'll have to consider guys like *Browning, Brissett, Carr, Heineke, Dalton, Dobbs

Browning is my perfect situation. Won't require a big $$ deal, has experience, and could still become the guy for a long time if all goes well... if not, he could carry the team for 2+ years while grooming young guy (maybe even a QB we get in '25 draft)

Jake Browning is Kurt Warner.

I know winning immediately is what alot of people want (Mayo, Kraft, Fans), but I don't think it is in our best interest. We are so talent deficient from bad picks, picks at the end of rounds that we need a couple seasons of good HIGH picks to start rebuilding the talent base.

Take everything I say in these threads as something I would do, not something I think the team will do. My biggest fear is just taking a QB just because the team wants to get fans excited.

He would be a bandaid for people really just want to try to win games....the wrong strategy to me.

Which is why I've been saying since Nov - that there's a much greater value in signing or trading for the best possible FA QB, and using draft on LT, WR, TE... if we want to win next year. If we want a grueling 3yr rebuild then take a risk with a rookie 1st round QB.
But, we just got done with a 3 year plan with Mac. How'd that work out?

I don’t care about winning next season, I care about building a team that will compete for years to come , and if you look at all of the contenders in really strong AFC that’s how they are built. I have zero interest in Russell Wilson, or Justin Fields etc etc, you don’t win championships with those players. And they don’t need a “ grueling 3 year rebuild,” as the defense is already built, and they have the cap $$$$ and draft picks to do a major rebuild on offense. They can easily get their QB of the future, a starting LT and a really good WR on the first 2 days of the Draft, and they can use their cap money to build the OL and WR units up.

The last thing they should do is to try and patch things together with other teams garbage QB’s to try and win anything next season, this is their chance to build the foundation for long term success, and that means using the #3 for a potential franchise QB, and then move up for either a top OT, or WR in the , 2nd half of round 1. They can then take shots on other prospects after that.

I don’t disagree with the philosophy, but I think you underestimate the talent. A true #1 WR, for example, elevates everyone else, as does a good QB.

They’ve got a couple of obvious holes, sure, but the idea of a multi year rebuild ignores two facts: rookies usually need a couple of years, and control is 4 years, then you have to pay.

I fully expect we'll take a QB with the #3, but before you all jump ahead to taking a tackle with the 2nd rounder, consider that we might not want to pass up an opportunity to target a big fast talented WR if they're there.

Brian Thomas Jr., Troy Franklin, Adonai Mitchell: one of these guys might be available at #34. If so, you can't pass them up.

I would take one of Guyton, Morgan, Sumataia or even Paul over Xavier Worthy, Ladd McConkey, or Xavier Legette.

But Thomas, Franklin and Mitchell are beasts. We'll be talking about our OK but mediocre LT Guyton taken over game breakers like AJ Brown if we pass up the 3 WRs I mentioned.

i agree. this is a multi-year rebuild so they have to go into it that way. I would get Williams this year, OLine, and WR help in this years and next years draft...then fill in needs.

He threw 26 tds to 8 picks last year.

Seattle traded him because they didn’t want that contract, not because they favored Smith.

And he was benched last year after Denver was out of the running only because of the injury clause in his contract.

I watched him play. He’s the best of the possible vet gets. He’s 35 and not worth his massive deal, but if you don’t get a day 1 starter QB, Wilson is a great option for a couple of years.

Just jumping in on the QB discussion. I don't want old Kirk Cousins or a middle of the road QB like Justin Fields. I'm all for Maye or Daniels, whichever is available to us. Very few first round QBs are a guarantee but if you are scared to do it you'll never get a "special" franchise altering player.

Just freaking go for it. Bring in the right OC, draft Maye/Daniels, sign one of those middle of the road QBs strictly as a bridge if necessary and then build the OL and receiving group. If there was a veteran QB out there who I thought could help us contend for a championship in the future I'd be open to it. But as far as I can see there is not.

If that's the case what stops us from trying out next year . Jordan love came in 2020 batch and in his 4th season is looking like a stud.

We are not winning the superbowl in 2024 lest even a postseason appearance so why not get the best talent on other positions before we gamble on qb.

Draft MHJ or trade to 6 , get an OT and extra second round pick and use those second round picks and third rounder on a qb/OT and WR. Start this year with Mac/ brissett/ any other vet qb.
