DRAFT 2024 NEP 3RD Overall Pick - DRAKE MAYE

I think developing Maye is McAdoo's fulltime job while AVP works with Brissett for the season. If we're lucky, we see Mayes for a bit at the end of the season.
I think it’s important he plays a full 2-3 games at the end of the season to get that experience and build off it.

Please lord let him be long term awesome...

Wow, what a difference in ball speed on these 2 plays, just shows you Mac did not have the arm strength and Maye does. I timed this a bunch of times, seems like Mac's ball was 26% slower than Mayes.
Jones had nobody within yards of him, Maye stepped up as his lineman was getting pushed back close to them. Pretty amazing difference in arm talent though we knew that but to see it so obvious in similar plays was great.

Had we had the 2 pick, is there any indication we would've taken Daniels in that spot? I get the impression we still would have rolled with Maye.

Basically means the whole Denver New England fiasco was moot all along.

You’re kind of a negative person I think. I don’t recall you always being this way.
What's negative about that? A throw like that is an interception in the NFL. If you're lucky, it's incomplete.

It’s wild that we actually have a franchise quarterback again. Eager to witness his development. He’s gonna be amayezing..

Here’s a fair/balanced assessment of Maye:

The more I read about this kid or listen to reports about him, the more I am getting excited for the 2024 season. Hopefully they won't rush him with a marginal supporting cast on offense.

I had not seen this video with Maye breaking down plays during Syracuse game. If a repeat sorry but thought this was great.

Good stuff

This is not deja vu. Look how quickly Maye's ball gets to the receiver while Mac's ball float.
Mac's ball has a looot longer to travel than Maye's, though, air yards wise in those clips.

Thanks for pointing that out. I pseudo jest with these "warnings," but I am hopeful and frankly confident that Maye is significantly better than Mac while under pressure.

On a curious note and hypothetically speaking , if we lumped mac, fields, lance and Zach Wilson along with this draft class, if we just go by their college tra k record and tape how would we rank them along with the top 6 that got drafted in R1. What would be the revised top 10 QB ranking featuring 2024 R1 QB and 2021 R1qb without Trevor.

What I also like about Maye: it feels like he'll be creating his own legacy.

Felt like Mac was always compared to Brady. Thanks to Mac's ineptitude, I feel like the pressure is off Maye's shoulders.

He's also such a different style of QB in comparison. Really eager to see how he turns out at the next level.

here's the thing:

When you listen to all these clips it is hard NOT to be believe that Maye is the QB we are looking for long term. That's even knowing that he is the youngest and rawest of the top 3 guys. But Greenberg is right. There have been a LOT of first round QB's who have failed dismally and they all had clips like these posted in April and May. So it sounds great now and you cannot help be encouraged, but the INITIAL answer won't start to be answered until we start to seeue him on the field.

As to Jones. For whatever reason that only he knows BB ****ed this kid up. I have no illusions about Mac, but he WAS the best of the 5 QB's taken in 21 by FAR. There is no doubt there WAS promise of Mac becoming a top 15 QB in the league. The kind of guy who can take a very good roster to a championship, but doesn't necessarily elevate those around him. He moves the chains. He takes good care of the ball; He's a good leader and processor. He is Brock Purdy. And if Maye's floor is Brock Purdy I'll be thrilled.

But the kid we drafted hs the POTENTIAL to be a top 5 QB eventually. He certainly won't be THIS year. There is no question, in my mind, that Mac was ruined by the Pats. Had Josh stayed, Mac would have likely progressed to his ceiling and we would have a very competent QB entering his 4th year that would work diligently to improve his craft year to year, and not picking #3.

But I digress. We ruined our QB. We drafted horribly for most of the last 4 years and I've come to believe that Bill DESERVED to be fired (as much as I'd love to have him working on game plans and use his knowledge of the game for our benefit. So we EARNED that #3 pick by sucking last year and we were very lucky that there were 3 QB prospects THAT good in our reach. Usually there is only one or at most 2 worthy of a top 3 pick, and the next guy is a tier down. The GM did his job in that first down and we got the guy we need to build to the playoiffs in 25
