(I'm sorry for Mayo. He needed first-rate people around him. But what did he get? Wolf. Who gave him Polk, Baker, Wallace, Robinson, Okorafor. Who also gave him AVP (buddies at Green Bay). Who gave him Brissett, Peters and McCarthy, from the great Cleveland Browns coaching tree. Then Covington was an in-house over-hire. Firing Mayo and keeping Wolf would be to make a bad situation even worse.)

I think the sympathy for Mayo is misplaced.

Mayo schmoozed himself into a position he was woefully unqualified for. He would have been better served taking the proven route that other HCs have.

He did this to himself.

The sympathy should go to the Pats fans and players who were underserved by this hiring fiasco.
