The Rams are simply the better team. At this point, even with Drake's development, we are still only able to beat teams with major problems. I also have worries that Drake is taking too many hits and that at some point the chickens are going to come home to roost in that department. I Hope I'm wrong, but I think we might see Jacoby again at some point as a result.

The gidddines after last week's win was every bit as unwarranted as the giddiness after the Jets win. Both wins meant less than our happiness about them suggested.

While Drake's intervening when the team was dogging it in practice was a very welcome development, it is worrisome there was a need for him to do so in the first place. Why did the coaches not have the standing with the players to deal with it before Drake had to act? I understand this is a pretty negative take on the matter, but I think it's a fair question.

They may be trying to develop his leadership by creating a vacuum for him to step into.

Could be, I suppose, but it doesn't really seem to me the most likely explanation. They have at various points earlier on encouraged Drake to be more assertive, which might support your speculaion, but I'm not sure they would deliberately let the team fall into lousy habits just to create a "leadership opportunity," and if they did so, is that really a responsible gambit? I'm not so sure. Oh well.

I'm not so sure but Maye is their best offensive player at the most natural position for leadership. Under the prior HC I would expect moments of challenge to the QB to take the reigns until it became a thing. Everyone looks to the QB to lead not just in play on the field but in practice, in film study, etc. Winning is an opportunity to create paths and good habits. Mostly I'm just hoping for that.
