2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

Found this interesting. Is he trying to get other teams to grab WRs so the guy he wants is still there at 21? Or are they going after one early?

Sounds to me like he's trying to get a run on WR prior to the Pats being up so that they can maximize the value of a trade back. Especially knowing that GB is going to be in the hunt for a top WR..

Last year is the first I heard of the ESPN Draft Predictor, and it’s almost impressive how wrong it was with the QBs. It gave Jones a 1% chance of being available at pick 8, Fields a 6% chance of being available at pick 10, and Lance a 6% chance of going in the top 3.

Notice Andersen and Tindall run free on all of their plays. How well do they do shedding blockers, and then making a play? Chenal stacks and sheds a guy most people think is a 1st round pick. Impressive. Andersen ran a 4.42 40 and Chenal ran a 4.53 40, both at the combine. So which player do you take? The quicker faster one? Even at ILB?

What is impressive is that Zion did not pick the blitzer late, he saw it developing and made no effort to get his hands on the guy because he knew he could stop him with a shoulder shrug. Really quite funny. I expect Zion will be a great pro, had accolades at the Senior bowl (always a great indicator), and he is training with Dante. I think we can trade down and still get him. Not an exciting pick, but solves a problem. I like Penning as well - same reason - seems to be a man among boys, but Penning will probably be gone by 21 I think.

Depends on what we want to play imo. If we are looking for a LB who can take on offense linemen i think tindall will have his issues. But with more beef upfront Tindall or Andersen are better fits than Chenal because Chenal won't give us much in coverage or against outside stuff. I don't think that any of them is a day 1 guy.

Can't believe Mac was supposed to go in the top 4 and he slipped to us! Lots of GMs kicking themselves right now

I agree. I think the lighter faster guy is intriguing and the Pats have already moved that way with Philips and Dugger. But we need beef in the middle, and talented beef at taking on two guys so I think we need Davis or your favorite Jones. If we only have one slower bigger LB like Chenal with two or three faster LBs around him, I expect that would be OK too. Plus I think the lighter guys are easier to find and we have McGrone, McMillan, Uche, Wilson, and Peppers, so maybe the Pats are thinking Chenal and Davis/Jones.

Bentley is back, remember.

He wasn’t that cheap. He’ll be a rotational guy.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around how they are going to use Bentley this year.

It makes no sense because godchaux is not man enough to command a double team, so Bentley is either in coverage or taking on guards in run support.

The only way Bentley makes sense is if we get a fatty at nt who can command a double team.
