There's no flag or penalty for attempted infractions. If I tried to dive at Allen's knees and missed him entirely, it wouldn't be a penalty.

I posted this in another thread. Something unusual from the NFL's front office brand of justice.

The Packers Quay Walker was fined $13,261 for shoving a Lions team physician who was treating a Lions player lying on the turf. He was ejected from the game.

The Lions Jamaal Williams was fined $18,566 for a touchdown celebration. No penalty flag thrown.

Seems like it should be the other way around to me.
