Yeah, I was, with my son. Drove up 8 hours and sat in 313. Your BiL is right. The fans are shockingly passive. The sound system is on 11 to give the aura of sound and excitement in the building. We were up and screaming but few were into it. Lots of Blues fans there also which shocked me.
Hopefully the atmosphere is different tonight. But I think the problem is how dark they keep the place. Even the black painted walls in the concourse. It's like a cinema compared to the Old Garden. Everything is geared to keeping humans quiet and the sound system loud. The fans were louder and more aggressive when it was just John Kiley and his organ.
Unfortunately, the highlight of the night for us was actually meeeting Fitzy in person for the first time!!!!! He was filming in the street. To me, this was the Holy Grail, because I've followed his work and championed it here since 2007. What was funny is that the Indy Colts fan from NFL Fan Therapy was doing the camera work that night. So I turned to him and said "I love what you do in those Therapy videos, but cut down on the singing, will ya?" He laughed. I can only say that Fitzy could not have been nicer to me and my son. Very likeable even when he was working (we didn't get on video or anything) we met him briefly and he was a genuinely good guy - - it would have been disappointing if he wasn't.
