I saw a beat writer on twitter mentioning the idea that they may dress 7 D-Men (McAvoy, Moore, Krug, Carlo, Kampfer, Clifton and Gryz) sitting a forward and then leave Gryz as the "PP Only, break in case of another D-Man going down" guy.

Gryz's issue was a concussion, right? If so, I would think either he plays or he doesn't. I wouldn't think there'd be any limitations.

Z on the other hand would have limitations (breathing, communicating, weak from not eating) and I think would be better suited to play in high leverage situations. IDK, it's a crappy position to be in regardless but I'm thankful Sweeney built a really deep team. Not many teams can roll out 8 D-men and not have a considerable decline.

Correct on Gryz. Once he is cleared for contact by the med staff, he can play.

Heinen is a complete joke. For me, these two aren’t anywhere near the same level. He somehow managed to get a secondary assist the other night for getting ridden off the puck, so he’s got that going for him, but as a whole, he’s just terrible.

He was playing on the 2nd PP unit today. He's playing. I'm going to miss Big Z but his loss is not as devastating with Gryz back.

Perhaps there's a scenario where we dress 7 and Chara plays limited 10 minutes in high stress/penalty kill situations? The issue with the broken jaw is his ability to communicate and then energy given he won't have eaten anything solid for a good 5 days. Sit Backes or Heinen. Both have been awful (yes, i'm aware of Backes physicality and 'heart' but he's a waste of space). Increase the times of Bergy, Coyle, Pasta, March hoping that the latter 2 finally wake up.

I do wonder if they let the results dictate Z playing.

If they lose game 5, he plays game 6 and game 7 if necessary.

As you said, breathing and communication would be tough with a wired(?) jaw.

Chara playing through the pain, Gryz back, back on home ice in Boston, coming off (at best) a conspicuously lackluster performance that saw the series go from all but clinched to 0-0 best of 3. If the Bruins aren't playing close to if not their best game of the series tomorrow night, they probably don't have a better performance left to give, IMHO.
