Ian Rapoport ?@RapSheet 3m3 minutes ago
Randall Cobb had 6-7 offers today, I’m told. He turned down considerably more money elsewhere to sign with the #Packers.

That seems to be a common early theme: players re-signing with their own teams. Mark Ingram, Randall Cobb, Doug Free, Kareem Jackson, Derek Newton, David Harris, likely Brandon Flowers. Lots of re-signings.

Cobb turned down significantly more to stay with the Packers

DO YOU SEE THIS, REVIS + MCCOURTY?

Rapoport also mentioned Cobb is still only 24 years old, so this deal takes him to 28. He will likely get another nice deal then since he will probably still be in his prime, or close-to-prime.

Friendly reminder:

@PP_Rich_Hill: So that Julian Edelman 4/$17mm deal looks pretty good, eh?
Packers are committing roughly 20 million to Nelson and Cobb annually. For roughly 17 million, the Patriots have Gronk, Edelman and LaFell (Amendola's bloated contract hasn't been included).

Hats off to BB and his team. That's quality, cost-effective production.

Teams are going to be fighting over Torrey smith and jerermy maclin now. Maybe even crabtree

It was nice knowing ya Rid.

I assume that you mean Shane Vereen?

I don't know why Stevan Ridley would have any incentive whatsoever to settle on a new pact during the lowest point in his NFL career, coming off of a major injury. It's much more likely that he takes a one year, prove it deal and enters free agency again next spring, in my opinion.

@MarkDanielsPJ: Don't expect the Eagles to pick either Byron Maxwell or Devin McCourty. I've been told they're pursing and want both.

Chip Kelly just has his panties in a bunch because he cut Chung and the Pats brought him back and he played great for them, so he wants to take our other, better safety now and hopes for better results.

The Patriots re-signing Chung is the reason I'm confident that McCourty and Revis will be back. Without them to cover the passing game, Chung is a huge liability.

I thought that at the time as well, but that might just be wishful thinking at this point. There's just too much money out there to resign both unless they take hometown discounts.

How do you feel about Harmon?

3rd stringer
Ok. I think he's been developing decently. Ideally I would like to have a McCourty/Thomas level player starting in his spot, but with the $ situation I can envision the team going with Harmon/Chung at the safety spots. At that point, hopefully Revis would be retained, and there would be some improvements to the defensive line both in FA and the draft.

I am still an advocate for signing Tyvon Branch though if McCourty leaves. His injury history sucks but he has talent.

If we don't pick up the option on Revis and he signs elsewhere, does he become part of the compensatory pick equation for next year. And the same applies to Wilfork. Is he considered "cut" or a FA?
