2014 Draft Prospect Thread

Jeff Howe breaks down the post-combine landscape for the Patriots and the draft.

I'm sure Mayo and Kontra will enjoy the nugget that Dominique Easley could be off the board because he likes cartoons rather than watching football

Not sure how Howe would know that for a fact short of talking directly with Belichick, but that shouldn't preclude them from taking a quality prospect on day two with good value. If it does, that's extremely disappointing.

I think he's guessing to be fair, working on the theory that BB won't draft someone that doesn't love football. It's probably not that far off though.

Not sure you can make the determination that he doesn't love football based on the fact that he'd rather watch cartoons than football. I love my job, but I would choose deep sea fishing on a boat with a beer on my hand every day and twice on Sundays, for example. But you are correct that he's probably just guessing.

I didn't make the determination, Jeff Howe did. I haven't even seen the news conference. Easley's of my board because a) he's not a great fit and b) the injury risks (no more Glass-I please). So good news, that means we'll probably draft him.

Shazier and Tuitt are easy to love and easy to hate.

One play Shazier looks like Von Miller and Gary Guyton the next.

I'd choose fishing too too, but not cartoons. It doesn't take him off my board but I want my players to be obsessed with football.

Doubt anyone on this forum or players for that matter are more obsessed with football, then the dark lord himself. But even he start the year "deep sea fishing on a boat"!

Poor word choice on my part. "You" should have been "one". Anyway, I don't have the same concerns with the injuries as you do. I noted in another thread that Easley looked more explosive last year after the ACL injury and that he'll be wearing braces on both knees, which should help protect against future injury to the area. As for fit, the team one gapped a lot more last year than any previous year under BB that I can remember. There should be a lot of room for a one gapping 3-tech.

A creative Soul like Mad Bill will surely find a way to channel Easley's passion for Toons.

I don't really follow the draft or combine like I use to, what's the word on Dennard? Living in the Midwest I've had the pleasure of watching him in person several times. He was one of the most dominant players I've seen. A true physical, lockdown corner with the knack of make gaming changing picks in big games. Do the Patriots have any chance at him or is he pretty much gone?

I doubt he'll fall to the Patriots.

Dennard - top 20 pick

A couple of interesting items. Unfortunately I'm at work so can't post the links, but I'm being truthful. Honest.

1. It might have been a little disappointing that Tyler Starr didn't post the ridiculous 3 cone time that was being reported. His 6.64 was still pretty ridiculous though. It was the fastest ever by someone over 240 LB.

2. There's a website called mockdraftable.com that finds player comparisons based upon their combine results. Pierre Desir's most comparable player is Aqib Talib. One of Kyle Fuller's most comparable is Devin McCourty. I just found that interesting.

Charles Leno Jr, OT, Boise State is someone I identified in the athletic fits thread as, well, an athletic fit for us. Mockdraftable pretty much confirms this. Two of the closest comparisons to Leno are Dan Connolly and Matt Light.

But wasn't the rest of his workout kinda crap?
