Watched the 2001 Pats on ESPN Classic today. I will love that team forever. What a fantastic story. The Kick in the Snow. Bledsoe coming in to win the AFC Championship. The incredible upset over the Rams. Someone needs to write a screenplan about that season.

It occurs to me that so few of those players on the roster, anymore. Turns out, only 12 players are still on the team.

I didn't know Neal was on the '01 team.

Just a few corrections:

J.R. Redmond was with Arizona last year, got hurt and went on the I.R., and is now a free agent.

Antwan Harris was with Cleveland last year, got hurt and went on the I.R., and is now a free agent.

Greg Robinson-Randall is playing in the CFL.

Fred Coleman is playing in the AFL.

Brandon Mitchell was released by the Falcons in the summer of 2005 because he was out of shape.

Marc Edwards was released by Chicago last September or October when Bryan Johnson came back from injury.

Antowain Smith is a free agent who was with New Orleans last year. They signed Anthony Thomas and Michael Bennett, and Deuce returned from injury, so he won't be back.

Grant Williams was released by the Rams in the summer of 2005.

Mike Compton was released by the Jaguars in the summer of 2005.

And don't forget about Katzenmoyer, Holloway, and Ayi, who were, along with Turner, on the I.R. in 2001. All are now out of the NFL.

Incognito, yes.

2003 Season
2003 (0/0): Was placed on the physically unable to perform list during training camp (8/26) and was subsequently moved to injured reserve (11/10) … Did not participate in any games due to injury.

2002 Season
2002 (2/1): Neal made his NFL debut against Miami (10/6) … Started in his first NFL game a week later against Green Bay (10/23) but suffered an injury … Placed on injured reserve (10/23).

2001 Season
2001 (0/0, 0/0 - New England; 0/0 - Philadelphia): Signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent (7/23) but was later waived (8/26) … Signed to the Eagles practice squad (9/4) … Signed to the Patriots active roster (12/12) … Listed among the Patriots day of game inactives for the final three games of the regular season and all three postseason games, including Super Bowl XXXVI.

And while we're on this subject, here are some Arena League current players I can remember being on the Pats:

Bernard Holsey - NT - Austin - with Patriots in 2002

Fred Coleman - WR - Austin - with Patriots in 2001 and 2002

Chris Canty - DB - Austin - no introduction needed

Michael Bishop - QB - Chicago - again, no introduction needed

Ken Kocher - DL - Columbus - never made the roster in 2003

Jamin Elliot - WR - Georgia - on the Pats' practice squad in 2003

Victor Levya - OL - Los Angeles - with Pats in TC 2005

Bill Gramatica - K - Tampa Bay - wasn't on the Pats, but now brother Martin is

and the 96 team?

We're left with Bruschi and Troy Brown from '96... unless "Lucky Tebucky" was on that team - but I thought he showed up later.

I'd be up for winning XLI and XLII, so Bruschi/Brown get 5 rings, 6 AFC championships. Oh yeah that means Tedy and Troy, you can't retire for a couple years.

I'm with Tom Brady on which Super Bowl is his favorite:

"The next one."

Drafted in 1998.

Clearing the way for a return to the Pats as someone to spell for Dillon?

Great Info

Very interesting, it's amazing how people come and
go from a team.

Could be. Stranger things have happened. He certainly has more talent than Heath Evans.

Sean Morey??? I thought he was part of the 2001 gang.

Also what is the difference between retiring and Out of NFL.

No, Morey was only around for 1999 and 2000.

The players listed as retired, I'm guessing, have made more-or-less of an official announcement.
