I know this has been talked about alot, but lets get see the percentages.

It can be argues in many ways.

Cassel has the most experience and time with the system, so he should know it best and be the safest player to go with.

We drafted O'Connell for a reason. He may be behind Cassel now, but he has a higher upside then Cassel. So get him in there early, against some easier teams and a bye week, and hopes he hits is stride at the right time. Like the Pats did in 2001 when they went on their winning streak at the end of the season.

Both players are to young and inexperienced. Bring in another player who at least has some starts under his belt and get him used to the system and start him once they are comfortable, maybe after bye week.

Cassel. Until he proves otherwise for a succession of games.

It would probably take as long as it took for Favre to learn the jets system or Pennington the Miami system. There is no reason for a QB not to be able to perform in three weeks. HOWEVER, Belichick may prefer Cassel, perhaps with a veteran backup, perhaps not.

BB is on WEEI right now and says Cassel is the guy. They are not bringing in any other qb's unless it's Gutz because it would take another guy too long to learn the system. So it's Cassel, O'Connel, and maybe Gutz....the end!

Good post......I can't imagine McD's defense is so complex that a vet QB (especially someone sharp like Simms) can't come in and pick it up.......Let's face it.....Brett Favre is about as sharp as a box of dog sh##......but he was able to step in pretty fast and get the Jest's offense going.......
