Just those…ok we’re goodThe guys who have failed so far Britt/Brown/Hudson/Vildor were close to veteran minimum signings.

GVR has 2 starts and snaps in 5 games at center. So, he's likely the back-up.
The Pats have TWO roster spots to fill. Reiss mentioned that Brown is likely to be back and that it was a book-keeping issue. Whatever that means.
The 2d paragraph of the Lazar article I posted gives the most obvious answer….. Britt & Ben Brown cuts were done as FAVORS by the players to the team. The VETERAN (not subject to waivers) players likely promised to re-sign once the 3-hour underlap of NFL processing rules passes. The guys who have failed so far Britt/Brown/Hudson/Vildor were close to veteran minimum signings.
I think it's a little harsh to call it a disaster.
To make room on the active roster for Latu and Muasau, New England released veterans LB K.J. Britt and C/G Ben Brown, which is surprising. However, one theory could be that releasing Brown on Monday was procedural. Teams had to submit waiver claims and make room for those claims on their active rosters by 1 p.m. ET. Along with adding their waiver claims to the roster, the Patriots also placed P Bryce Baringer and rookie LB Khalil Jacobs on injured reserve, which couldn't occur until 4 p.m. ET so that Baringer and Jacobs were eligible to return this season after missing the mandatory four-plus games. Now, the Patriots have two open roster spots. In theory, those two open roster spots could go to Britt and Brown.
These 2 guys ARE JagsThey know they're weak in certain areas. That doesn't change by hoping. It is what it is.
Rather than swim upstream with JAGS, they are trying to bring in players who fit what they want.
Bill thought the first 4 games were meant to build the team. That's what they're doing.
You don't like this approach?
Tatu??Tatu is interesting. (from wikipedia)
San Francisco 49ers
Latu was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round, 101st overall, of the 2023 NFL draft. Latu suffered a torn meniscus during week 3 of the preseason and was placed on injured reserve on August 29, 2023, effectively ending his first season in the NFL.
Latu was waived by the 49ers on August 27, 2024.
Cleveland Browns
On August 29, 2024, Latu was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad. He was released on December 17. On December 31, the Browns re-signed Latu to their practice squad.
Philadelphia Eagles
On January 21, 2025, Latu signed a reserve/future contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was waived on August 26 as part of final roster cuts and re-signed to the practice squad the next day. On September 24, Latu was signed to the active roster. On September 28, in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Latu blocked a punt which was returned by teammate Sydney Brown 35 yards for a touchdown in the Eagles 31-25 win. He was waived on August 30, 2026.
So injured year 1. Mostly on the Browns in year 2 but Eagles picked him up late. Eagles cut him and camp, put him on PS and was promoted and say his first game action. He played in 15
yesIs Tanner Arkin still on the 53??
I never thought that 3 TE's was necessary, considering that we had a FB and OL's that could be emergency blocking TE's.4 TEs on the roster now; Arkin, Lutu, Riordan and Henry.
Lutu can not go down to PS, he would have to be waived if not on the 53 man roster
Arkin could go to PS and would probably not get picked up but he is the only blocking TE.
The addition of Lutu does not make a lot of sense without something else planned or unknown injury with one of the other TEs
The addition of Latu could mean the Pats plan on running a Lot of 3 TE sets without putting a Jumbo Lineman on the field. I know. You never actually thought of that.4 TEs on the roster now; Arkin, Lutu, Riordan and Henry.

They brought Vildor back to the PS just like they brought Brown. Whether Britt comes back to the roster or to the PS remains to be seenThey’re bringing Brown back. It was just a waivers thing.
