What sucks about getting older. You see people you grew up with passing away. First Hayden Panettiere and now Dolly Parton.

My mom dragged my sister and I to see “Straight Talk” in theaters in 1992. I was 10 years old. That’s when I was introduced to her. That theme song was funny.

I've never been a big fan of country music but Dolly is one of those awesome people who are much bigger than their chosen field of endeavor. Total class act. She's one of those people like Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong, who transcends genres and just makes everyone happy. Is there anything in life more important than that? The Pope should make both Satchmo and Dolly saints.

It always amazed me that she was able to stay in the mainstream year after year and decade after decade. Not an easy thing to do. What I always respected about her was she wrote her own songs, again not an easy thing to do for so long.
